The Mayor of Liverpool is hopeful a new ground will be secured in the next two years

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has been pictured meeting with Everton chiefs Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright to discuss their stadium plans.

The trio were pictured at a meeting in London, which the Mayor shared via his official Twitter account.

He also shared a message that should interest Blues fans, saying he believes that a new stadium is achievable within the next two years.

The Toffees are currently stepping forward with new plans to leave Goodison Park, having scrapped proposals for Walton Hall Park earlier this year.

Two sites have been proposed, with the possibility of building on a docklands-based site or on available land at Stonebridge Cross.

Indeed Anderson, himself an Evertonian, has openly admitted that he prefers the docklands site at Clarence Dock and is sure to have put that point across in this meeting.

While the talks were likely informal at best, it is still positive to see that Moshiri is not resting on his laurels after investing earlier this year.

He certainly appears to have big plans for the club, and sorting out a stadium will be the first big hurdle for him to overcome in the coming years.

walsh-150x150.jpg

The Telegraph is this evening reporting that ‘Everton have made a statement of intent after raiding Premier League champions Leicester City for their head of recruitment, Steve Walsh’.

The report follows earlier reports from Sky Sports which claimed ‘Everton have agreed a deal in principle with Leicester City to take head of recruitment Steve Walsh and make him their new director of football’

Walsh is expected to be confirmed as Everton’s new director of football on Wednesday after Everton agreed to pay about £2  million in compensation to land the highly regarded recruitment chief, who also doubled up as Leicester’s assistant manager.

Leicester initially rejected Everton’s approach for Walsh, but Walsh made it clear he wanted to speak to Everton officials to set the move in motion.

Walsh has played a huge part in Leicester’s recent history, credited with the scouting of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kanté.

The post Reports: Everton complete signing of Walsh appeared first on GrandOldTeam.

Leicester ‘super scout’ to become director of football at Goodison Park

Everton are set to confirm the appointment of Leicester’s Steve Walsh as the club’s director of football in the next 24 hours.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday evening that Everton have agreed compensation with Premier League champions Leicester, who have given Walsh permission to speak to the Toffees.

Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is keen to revamp the coaching structure at Goodison Park with a director of football working alongside manager Ronald Koeman.

Farhad identified Walsh as his prime target after missing out on Sevilla’s Monchi.

Leicester were reluctant to let Walsh leave the club and rejected an approach from Everton on Monday.

However, Moshiri was determined to land his man and is prepared to buy the 63-year-old out of his contract.

Walsh is also keen to talk to the Blues as the job represents a promotion and chance to move closer to his family.

Talks are expected to be concluded quickly and confirmed in the coming days, meaning Everton can then turn their attentions to bolstering the playing squad.

Everton increasingly confident of keeping Romelu Lukaku via Royal Blue Mersey

Ronald Koeman is planning to add a striker to partner the Belgian.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Ronald Koeman wants to add another striker to his squad to partner Romelu Lukaku next season.

The Blues are increasingly confident of keeping their star striker this summer despite rumours of an exit.

The Belgium international has been linked with a departure all summer after openly discussing his desire to play for a club in the Champions League.

However, Everton remained steadfast in their determination to keep him and slapped a £65 million asking price on his head to ward off interest.

It appears to have worked, with no formal bids having been made and the Liverpool Echo reporting that there is a growing sense of optimism at the club that he will be staying.

Ronald Koeman is determined to do everything he can to make that a reality and is targeting a striker to partner Lukaku next season.

He often cut a frustrated figure as the lone striker under Roberto Martinez, with some of his better performances coming when he was linked up with Arouna Kone.

The Dutchman is keen to tap into that and is targeting a striker to help Lukaku in his side next season, as well as provide more sufficient cover than Arouna Kone and Oumar Niasse currently offer.
