Because we have at least one club that is willing to meet the valuation we have set on stones, and none who have shown willingness to meet the clubs valuation of Lukaku, added to that, the press have obviously been getting briefed about us wanting to keep hold of Lukaku, the leaked wage offer for example and talking about the meetings with Riaola and his subsequent change of tone following that (added to Lukaku for once shutting up and passing the question about his everton future entirely to his agent - in stark contrast to his normal motor mouth talking up leaving response)
Club has been very quiet about Stones - no stories about a new deal etc
Disregarding what they may both become int he future, right at this minute we have a choice apparently between keeping hold of a prolific 23yo forward or keeping hold of a greatly talented ball playing centre back, going into next season i know which one keeping hold off will improve our chances for the season and which one short term at least is much more easily replaceable[/Q
Which valuation and which Club....and where is the direct quote from both Everton and said club with the details? Again, it's all somebody's opinion as opposed to fact. A really ambitious club would be looking at keeping both.
The argument to say we need to sell Stones or Lukaku to buy five more players is again opinion - why not look for three players of the ilk suggested and keep two who are already here and of that level or greater? I'm not suggesting the original poster is wrong or his argument is flawed just that it's an opinion and there are lots of other permutations. Personally, I don't understand advocating getting rid of that quality of player to afford others, unless they really want to leave or the manager believes they don't meet his criteria. That said, the way Lukaku or his advisors have behaved can only have left a negative impression with the owners and decision makers within Everton....I'm really struggling to know how we should deal with him....ship him out or reward him.
Agents are a disease.....Stones was badly advised and terribly manipulated last season and perhaps Lukaku is too. Another couple of goals this weekend from Lukaku though may have him chatting bubbles again I think.
