Never liked Heitinga, hes pretend hard man image, bottling challenges and his 0 out of 10 performances against Villa and WBA last year.

We obviously had a sting of players during the Smith/Kendal Mk 3 years that wouldn't get anywhere near our squad these days.

John Spencer, Mitch Ward, Gareth Farrely ( although cant' hate him purely down to the goal against Cov) Marc Hottinger, John Oster.

in terms of goals-ratio, he's the best goalscorer we've had in the last 40 years (if we're not counting Lineker's one-season wonder).

Most under-appreciated player of the last 25 years? I think so.

But then in this thread Neville Southall and Graeme Sharp have also been mentioned...so Cottee's in good company.

Saha-Beckford was great but for some reason Moyes didn't like playing it (too attacking...resulted in that epic 5-3 vs Blackpool...too risky for Moyst).

same! the most amazing match i've ever seen...never went so ballistic as in that one, each equaliser more nuts than the last. Proper never-say-die attitude...and we won the replay!

Cottee came on and did what he always did for us...slot goals.
