Everton players on loan 2018/19

I went through the list, cant believe we have around 15 players out on loan.

The one for me that's interesting is always going to be Vlasic. He showed only small glimses when here, then goes away and lights up the champions league. I'm sure he's worth another chance in an Everton shirt

He had been coming on as a sub but then has filled in in midfield and as a defender. It might be that he has been rested but I think his role in a poor Wigan side is seen as a squad utility player.
Interesting, thanks mate!

I think that’s his real issue, doesn’t have one genuine position to truely hold down and make his own.

Feel sorry for some of these kids on loan. It's a lot of pressure to have to shine in a loan system that is weighted against them. I'm sure if these players were honest with themselves, they'd be wishing they went the "Ledson route" and left in search of permanent first team football at the age of 18.

Is Pennington still on our books? Just caught a bit of Stanley v Ipswich. He looked dire. Bottom of the championship and under the direction of the awful Paul Lambert.

Amazing to think he scored for us Kop end in the Derby a few years back...

Don't forsee a future for him at Goodison.

FA Cup
West Bromwich Albion - Mason Holgate played full match in 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic

OS Match Report
"After the opener Albion asserted their dominance, in seach of a second, with Holgate tip-toeing his way past two defenders on the right, before cutting inside to test Jones with a low curling shot."

Twitter stuff
69 | We've come close to a second here... Bakary Sako saw his shot parried by Jamie Jones and rebound then cleared off the line, before Mason Holgate headed over and Jonathan Leko fired wide.

Fan comments
"Holgate started well but faded by 60/65 mins but can see him coming in as main RB"
"Holgate better than Tosin at RB"
"Holgate looks class."
"I think Holgate was superb. Read the ball well, classy touch and not afraid to tackle. It was disappointing that he kept making runs down the right and was in acres of space but the ball rarely went to him. Surely this is tactical, because I don't see why they would ignore him so much. Hopefully he will be a regular at right back as he looks a class above anything we have there at the moment."

Wigan Athletic - Callum Connolly started the same match, was booked and was substituted in the 66th minute

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
29' Yellow. Callum Connolly goes into the book for wrestling Leko to the ground. Shooting opportunity for the hosts from distance, left of centre. (0-0)

Fan comment
"Connolly 5- All over the place, brings nothing to midfield."

Ipswich Town - Matthew Pennington played full match in 0-1 away defeat to Accrington Stanley

OS Match Report
"Matt Pennington was in the right place to prevent Kee getting a sight of goal"

No particular fan comments.

Joe Williams and Antonee Robinson were not in matchday squads.

Interesting that Holgate is playing as right back. He's been in the middle here, and it seems odd that we'd send him somewhere to get game time, only for those games to be in a different position.

....it’s proper professional football, Bruce, so he’ll play wherever his manager wants him to play.

Sure, but we're not sending him out for WBA's benefit, it's a loan for our benefit. You would think it would be arranged in a way that aids his development so he comes back a better player for us. It can't be beyond the realms of possibility therefore that we'd look for clubs that would play in a way similar to our own, and who wish to play our players in our preferred position. Just smacks of the Galloway situation, where the loan set him back so much. Do we not plan these things?

.....the best development is that he’s forces his way into and keeps his place in a team and competition where results really matter. He’s a professional and will play where his Manager most needs him. WBA are paying serious money for an asset they hope will benefit them. It’ll be tough in that league, let’s hope he can get himself a permanent deal.

I’d be very surprised if he’s ever a CB for Everton.

I think both loans are brilliant this window.

Dowell to Sheff Utd (3rd)
Holgate to WBA (4th)
Also Besic at Boro (5th) in summer

If they do well then they will be potential buys if their clubs reach the prem or to push on again next season. Also other teams may be attracted to the players based on their performances in the championship.

As weve seen with Vlasic, the players confidence will also increase through game time.

We also have the option to keep them but with Dowell and Holgate i think the idea is for them to play their way into a move because theyre clearly not getting a look in with us.

Do well and we could see at least £10mil bids for each of them.

...absolutely, but if Holgate and Dowell bomb then we could have 2 players in a similar situation to Galloway. Loans can be fantastic if players add value to their teams, hopefully both Dowell and Holgate are capable of doing that.

I think if we had sold Dowell and Holgate then (bizarrely perhaps compared to the solanke deal) we would have made £5mil-10mil for each.

If they both hit expectations then it may well be £10mil+ and both players have already delivered in the past so we could still probably see £5mil-10mil for them
