Everton players out on loan (2015/16)

I must admit Grant remains a puzzle to me. He's got a tremendous left foot and seems to be forever curling shots/ free kicks into the net from outside of the box. I remember his first loan out at Motherwell last season, first game , cracking left foot shot , pre- season u21 similar goals and more of the same at Doncaster, so he's got the talent. Maybe he's now showing the consistency that's been lacking, it's a big season for him as he is on a one year contract till next summer.

Yeah he seemed to fade massively after his first game at Motherwell, but he's still delivering the performances at Doncaster and it could be a sign that he's developing into a more mature and consistent player. It'll be interesting to see what the club do with him once this loan is over, either in January or the summer.

Fulham - Garbutt played 90 minutes in 1-2 home defeat against Ipswich

OS Match Report not up yet, only text commentary available.

Garbutt one of three options for OS Man of the Match:
"Solidified the left-hand side, helped to protect Tim Ream and offered a regular attacking outlet when the Whites looked to stretch play."

Twitter stuff

17' #ffc have the momentum now. A sweeping move results in a cross towards Garbutt. The ball goes out for a corner, Gerken collects. 1-1
23' Nice play between Garbutt and Cairney releases McCormack on the left. He cuts inside a slams a shot towards goal, it flies wide.
23' Another good chance for Fulham. An unmarked Garbutt swings in another cross which is just beyond the reach of Dembélé.

"Garbutt is looking better and better."

I would have rather seen Garbutt holding down that LB position than Galloway tbh

nice to see we have young guns firing out there

Its actually perfect for us. Garbutt is getting minutes and we need him to show consistency till the end of the season.

Galloway has earnt a new contract through his performances and gained valuable experience. Also he's shown hes ready to step up if needed.

Its ideal that both have this experience.

It looks like he is playing left hand side of midfield too. I think this is a positive development for his future at Everton and he definitely has it in his locker.

......he's a lad with a powerful build and tremendous left foot. He was the stand out player in the streamed U21 game at Southampton but unfortunately had to fill in at LB after an injury.

There seems to be a lot of chat about Grant so thought I'd give pass on my own opinion. As a young player he didn't really stand out to me. He was in an age group that was in between our youth league winning age of a few years back (the Garbutt Age group) and the one that won it a couple of years back (the Ledson year group).

We didn't have a bad team and ended up getting to the quarter finals of the youth cup, beating Arsenal away 4-2 along the way, but the Murphy twins of Norwich knocked us out and went onto win it. Had we not have had a man sent off (it may well have been Grant) we could have beaten them and probably gone on to be a real contender ourselves. I've always kept an eye on the Murphy twins but as yet they haven't kicked on.

He was always a decent player in the team but never really massively stood out to me. At that stage he used to play as a defensive midfielder and was quite similar in build to Joe Williams.

When Martinez arrived he highlighted Grant as a key youngster. He promoted him to the first team and he had some game time in pre season as an 18 year old who performed very well. We haven't subsequently seen much of him though I think this is in no small part down to Barry coming in and replicating some of Grants strong points but better.

I think the analysis that he has filled out is a good one though. He was always a wiry lad (similar to Williams) but physically he does now look more developed than a lot of the teenagers who were looking to overtake him a little.

The physical development happens at different times but can play a massive part. It can be the tipping point that allows you to compete with men and mean you can put your technical skill onto the game. We have a similar situation with the likes of Kenny currently, a very good defender but just needs to physically grow a little.

As for Grant with that growth I think has come an added responsibility to be more central to the game. As a young player he tended to "keep it simple". Get the ball and pass it sideways (similar to Barry, in fact how we played in early pre season Grant was almost identical to how Barry plays now).

However he is really starting to influence games further up the pitch. He does have a lot of technical skill. I think he is more suited to being a similar player to Barkley now.

I still think it will be a long shot for Grant to make it at Everton. However the signs are very encouraging. He is dominating games at league 1 level. Martinez is very keen to have young players who are physically ready to adapt to the needs of men's football which he looks like he is now.

Reading that it seems like he could come into the squad as backup for Barkley or even Barry? How about box-to-box?

Yet you also say its a long shot to make it? Why's that do you think?

It's exciting to see Galloway develop, for me Garbutt is the best crosser of a ball from the left we have , including Baines. Those few games he played towards the end of season showed his ability, albeit not in a consistent way. Hopefully he can play consistently for Fulham for the rest of the season and come back a clear squad member and challenger for the
LB spot.
