Round-up from yesterday:

Championsip
Fulham - Garbutt played 90 minutes in 2-2 home draw against Brentford

OS Match Report

"Canos was shown a yellow card in the 35th minute for a lunge on Garbutt as Fulham upped the tempo. And a succession of corners eventually saw the Whites draw level five minutes before half-time. After a McCormack set-piece was headed away at the near post, Garbutt played it back to the Scotsman with a neat first-time pass. McCormack took a touch before sending in a curling cross which was flicked into his own net by Tarkowski."

Twitter stuff
15'Garbutt has featured heavily in the opening stages and earns a corner for Fulham
19' A Garbutt cross is cleared behind for a corner by Tarkowski. The resulting corner is claimed by Button
25' YELLOW CARD: Sergio Canos is booked for a poor challenge on Luke Garbutt.
45+1' More positive running from Garbutt just before half time down the left flank

(Jake Bidwell for Brentford mentioned all over FFC Twitter is well-rated ex-EFC youth left back having a good career.)

No particular positive or negative fan comments despite some discussion about defence.

League One
Wigan - Francisco Junior unused sub in 0-1 home defeat to Blackpool

Doncaster - Conor Grant played 90 minutes and scored in 3-2 home win over Crewe (Mattioni out injured)

OS Match Report

"Conor Grant picked up where he left off at Cambridge and had fans on the edge of their seats just five minutes in. Driving through the midfield, he hit one low and hard from 25 yards but it was just wide of the post."
"The home side got the equaliser they deserved and it was unsurprisingly Conor Grant who got his name on the scoresheet again. A deflected Coppinger cross fell to Grant who volleyed home brilliantly."
"Grant went close again as he fired another menacing shot at goal but always on the rise it just cleared Garratt’s crossbar."

Twitter stuff
7' CLOSE Great attack from Rovers, Grant hits one low and hard from 25 yards, just wide 0-0
14' Freekick to Rovers...Copps takes it short to Grant, another very inventive set piece. The shot is blocked and Rovers win a throw 0-0
19' Another freekick to Rovers, 30 yards out, Grant to take...It goes deep, Butler slides in but can't get there 0-0
2' Grant plays in Tyson, great ball, Tyson is pushed over and Rovers have a freekick wide on the left 0-0
What a player that lad from @everton is, a great ball into the box and the young scouse slots home as calm as you like 1-1
STADIUM ANNOUNCEMENT: Can anyone find a bucket of water? Conor Grant is on fire
THIS MAN: 3 goals, 2 games, 1 player
64' Rovers win another freekick, Grant lines it up. Left footed...SCRAMBLE in the box before Crewe clear for a corner 1-1
74' Evina in to Grant, Rovers playing the ball around the box nicely but still can't find a way through 1-1
79' Freekick to Rovers after a trip on Copps. 40 yard from goal, dead centre...It's taken and cleared, only as far as Grant who hits a BEAUTY, it dips just over the Crewe goal 1-1

Post-match from scorer of winning goal: CS: It was the best free kick I've ever hit. I told Conor Grant to leave it to me!

Random fan comments
Grant and Stewart can be a deadly combination if we can get them for the season. They have come from a higher standard so already have that basic level of technical ability.
Every goal Grant gets, for me he get's further away from us being able to get him permanent. He really is looking some player, i just had the feeling when he first signed we had chance of making him our player, now as he does better and better i'm not as confident!. Mattioni i am not sure if he would drop permanently to this level, he just badly needed games, but he obviously has real class.

Match highlights ? (UK only, I think)

League Two
Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson played full game and was booked in 2-1 away win against Plymouth

OS Match Report

The U’s continued to control possession of the ball in a threatening area of the field, with Ryan Ledson and Luke Berry, much like they had in the previous month, stringing together United’s play in midfield.

Twitter stuff
14' Clever play with the ball from United, with Berry and Ledson stinging play together nicely 0-1
Ledson curls a shot on target which Walton tips over for a corner 1-1

Random fan comments
"I think it was Ledson who got a yellow pulling down one of their players right in front of their dugout. The decision was right, but as our player went down their manager appeared to put a foot into Ryan on the ground." ?!?

More centre midfield than say defensive midfielder?

......others will have seen the lad more and be better qualified than me. He seems a powerful sort so I'm not surprised he's coping with the physicality of open age football. He's got a great left foot, he wouldn't be a conventional winger but I suppose he could play out there or at LB but I was impressed with him in a conventional CM role at youth level.

I'd bring him back in January. He's looking class. Barkley needs some competition, and this lad looks like he's got more fight atm.
Happy he's performing well for Doncaster, but I think bringing him back is a bit rash especially if you think he'd potentially oust Ross

He's played well and scored against Cambridge (mid League Two team) and Crewe (bottom of League One). Add to that some other performances.

Yet, it's still only League One so we shouldn't be getting beyond ourselves. If he continues to star all season then we can see in the Summer.

Bringing back early when he'd most probably not play with the likes of Gibson and Osman still around isn't going to improve him.
