Everton players out on loan (2015/16)

Yep, as said before Garbutt playing left wing back in front of a 3 man defence who were woeful for the first goal after 17 secs down the Fulham right so Garbutt not at fault! They did equalise but I Didnt watch much more, could prove a test of character for him to apply himself and shine in what looks like a side with passing ability but short of confidence.

Interesting bit about Henen and Blackpool's wish for further links with us.

Fleetwood manager Steven Pressley is targeting closer ties with Premier League Everton, having extended the loan of striker David Henen to cover the Christmas period.

The 19-year-old will remain at Highbury until after the visit to Bury on January 2. But Pressley is already hopeful he can keep the highly-rated Belgian for longer and is eyeing up further opportunities to raid Goodison Park.

Pressley declared the two clubs “a good fit” and believes they have a mutual interest in further co-operation. “I’m really really pleased,” said Pressley of Henen, who is understood to have cost the Toffees around £200,000.
He’s made a good impression. He’s brought the speed at the top end of the pitch I talked about in my first few weeks in charge. He appears to be a popular figure in the group as well.”
And he believes Everton, who are closely watching their U21 player, will have seen what Town can offer.

Pressley added: “It’s the benefit of putting players out on loan and it’s what Everton will see.

“When they brought him here they wanted him to get accustomed to the intensity of the game in this country.

“Loaning players to League One brings a physical aspect, brings a demand and also changes the onus from development to first-team football. When you’re playing U21s, there’s not such a pressure to win games as there is at first- team level.

“That’s a big change for players when they come out on loan.
“The demands change and the thought process has to change because in first-team football it’s about winning.”

The Belgian’s loan extension may only have been confirmed but Pressley is already thinking longer term and beyond the current deal Fleetwood have with the Merseyside club.

He continued: “I’d certainly hope if he continues to play in the manner he is and Everton are satisfied with the treatment of the player and the way he’s developing, then maybe we could extend beyond the current timescale.

“We have to look further than David. Everton are a club that are a good fit for ourselves in their ethos and in the way they go about things.

“I think we can benefit them greatly in respect of future loan players and benefit ourselves bringing in good loan players.”

Indeed, Pressley believes Fleetwood’s proximity to Liverpool, along with the £8m training complex at Poolfoot Farm, could give Town the edge in attracting more of Roberto Martinez’s youngsters.

He added: “I hope it can be the start of something. They see the benefit.
We have a wonderful training base, which is taking shape now.

“I hope we play the style of football that can attract the likes of David Henen to the club.”

Fleetwood's ground is Highbury ?

Some bits on Garbutt in Fulham's 2-2 draw. It looked like he played midfield ahead of a four man defence.
Luke Garbutt’s fine long range finish following a defensive error had put Fulham in front, with Alexander Kačaniklić coming close to making it two when he hit the crossbar shortly after.

There was a fairly low tempo to the start of the game as sheets of drizzle swept across the pitch, but Fulham went close in the 11th minute when Garbutt whipped a dangerous ball across the face of goal. Unfortunately none of the arriving players – McCormack, Dembélé and Kačaniklić – were able to convert.

The deadlock was broken on 28 minutes with Garbutt’s first Fulham goal. Prince-Desire Gouano wanted too much time on the ball 20 yards out and he promptly had his pocket picked by McCormack. He laid the ball off to Garbutt who let fly first time with his weaker right foot into the bottom corner.

Don't know what to make of that really. It's good that he's playing well but if they're playing a different left back behind him does that mean he's not good enough defensively? Will he play left back for us or maybe we'll play him further forwards?

Garbutt got his first goal and is getting better each game.
We looked awful in that second half and the decision to take off Garbutt and expose Ream to their right winger was a shocker.

League One

Cambridge - Ryan Ledson played 90 minutes and was booked in 1-1 home draw with Mansfield

I think that if we could the services of Ryan Ledson and Ben Williamson until the end of the season this would improve our squad immensely for the rest of this campaign
I was hoping to see Hughes come on for Ledson with 10 mins to go as we looked tired in the middle.
A lot of huffing and puffing from us, but there wasn't enough to get the winner, was a bit surprised that we didn't make a sub, especially with Ledson on a yellow.
I thought Ledson and Newton both had off days.

Some interesting comments about Ledson from a few days ago on their forum after an Everton fan asked for an update:

"He`s really composed on the ball and has good work rate and vision too............Seems as though everyone is impressed from us fans and management too, hope we can keep him until the end of the season .The Boy is doing Good !!

"

"A strong and able midfielder. Weaknesses in his game are shooting from unrealistic distance and getting too fired up and picking up yellow cards. Small faults that might turn into pluses with a bit more practice!"

"Yet some of his long range shots have drawn good saves and not been far off.
A welcome part of his game in my book. We've lacked someone to be able to try this for a long time. Tom Shaw maybe was the last to regularly offer a threat from distance"

"Actually he's totally crap with two left feet (don't tell them the truth, they will want him back)."

"I think we'll look to keep him unless Keith Keane recovers from his injury. Ledson seems to be a good balance for Luke Berry who is pretty much key to us doing well his season"

This from an echo article , I didn't know it was a season long loan.
Martinez is confident Everton have enough back-up in case of an injury to the Republic of Ireland full-back but they could recall Felipe Mattioni from his season-long loan from Doncaster if necessary.

I've been very impressed with him the 3 times I've watched him ... his passing, energy and bite in the tackle make him a better option than Cleverley imo.
