Division One
Fleetwood vs Wigan - neither David Henen or Francisco Junior featured in the respective squads, both through injury.

Doncaster - Conor Grant played 90 minutes in 2-1 away win at Oldham. Felipe Mattioni started but went off injured in 31st minute.

OS Match Report
"Two minutes later Rovers were inches away from doubling their lead, some superb individual play from Conor Grant as he created some space for himself to have a dig from 20-yards, his low curing effort rattled the bottom of the post and bounced away to safety."
"After a blistering end to the first-half the second did not start with the same intensity, it took ten minutes for the first chance of the second half and it came through Everton loanee Grant. The youngster carried the ball a long way before deciding to hit a low left-footed shot that was inches away from sneaking into the bottom right corner."

Twitter stuff
8' Mattioni skips inside and looks to drive towards goal but he is stopped by the Oldham man and they break... #drfc 0-0
15' CLOSE AGAIN as Grant shoots with his left and it cannons back off the post! #drfc 0-1
27' Long ball from Alcock to Grant, he's on the break and is rugby tackled to the floor. Nothing given! #drfc 0-1
SUB: Mattioni is down and is going to be replaced byh Mitchell Lund. He's struggling #drfc 0-1
55' Great run from Grant, he holds the ball well before shooting with his left, just wide of the post #drfc 0-2
Rovers break and it's a SHOCKING tackle on Conor Grant, late and horrible. He's down receiving treatment #drfc 0-2

Manager's post match comments
"DF: We are all but confirmed with Felipe and Conor Grant while Craig Alcock's loan might be made permanent"
"DF: Felipe has felt his hamstring. I'm not confident he's okay and he MAY have to go back if it's as bad as feared"

However Conor Grant rumour from a Preston forum:
"His agent is Matt Jackson, the former Wigan defender (who i'm sure still has links back there)....my friend from University is also best mates with Conor's brother. Take it with a pinch of salt but we enquired about his availability a few months back but he went to Doncaster for guaranteed first team football. Now he's proved himself in League One, we've apparently re-enquired but Wigan, Reading and MK Dons are also looking."

Division Two
Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson played full game in 2-1 home win over Barnet

OS Match Report
"Ben Williamson and Ryan Ledson both had chances to extend the lead, the Gillingham loanee’s effort in particular forcing a great one-on-one save from Barnet keeper Ian Lawlor."

Twitter stuff
29' Ledson throws himself in front of a curling shot from Weston 0-0
54' Akinde breaks for Barnet but Ledson is across well to stop the big man in his tracks
Ledson wrestles possession and shoots wide but wow what a fantastic turnaround from the U's 2-1
85' Ledson delivers precise ball into the box and wins a corner
Ledson breaks and finds Simpson who drills fractions wide 2-1

National League NORTH

Stockport County - Delial Brewster played full game in 1-1 away draw at Stalybridge Celtic

Fan Match Report
(worth a read as it is mostly about Brewster!)

Twitter stuff
1' | Early break by County - with Baggie, on the right, & Brewster playing a neat one-two, before the latter's shot is parried by McMillan.
11' | Two wide County forays in quick succession see Brewster and Baggie, from the left and right respectively, test McMillan.
12' | Brewster in action again - this time, shooting narrowly wide of the right post.
34' | Brewster, at the far, right post, meets Baggie's corner - but only by stretching, and the youth loanee's header flies over.
61' | County go close, as Brewster fires across goal from the left and just wide of the far post - narrowly evading Ledsham en route.
74' | Brewster heads, but clears the bar by some distance, following a Garvin cross from the left.

Random fan comments
"Superb effort from Brewster and even though a quietish game from Margetts just shows what having a goalscorer on the pitch can do. Hopefully we can get Brewster and Margetts on longer term loans?"
"As you said Brewster was giving their centre backs a torrid time and the thing I like about him is even though only 18 years old he can certainly stick up for himself. Their number 5 was giving him plenty of verbals throughout but he was giving it back in spades!!"

It must be really difficult for Felipe Mattioni, when you are out for so long and you make a comeback other parts of the body get stressed easier leading to new injuries. While I doubt if we've invested much money in him it would be good to see him get back to full fitness and then see just how good he is.
Reports from Doncaster fans are generally that he looks prem quality but he's constantly injured.

They played him at left midfield in the last match (or one before).

Seems odd they loaned 2 left backs at the same time...

Think we need to try and recall him and send him somewhere else.

Garbutt an unused sub in Fulham's 4-1 win at home to Rotherham under their new manager. Hope thats not an indication of things to come, maybe rested/rotation.

Felipe Mattioni's loan extended until end of season too, but they are sending him back to us to be assessed and if it's short term he'll be back there if long term Donny will seek another player elsewhere.

"The latest injury for Felipe Mattioni will be assessed before Rovers decide whether to take up an agreed loan extension with Everton, Darren Ferguson has revealed.

Everton have agreed to allow both Mattioni and Conor Grant to remain with Rovers until the end of the season with their initial deals set to expire on Saturday night."

Great opportunity for Grant to showcase his talents. The reality is though that he'll be 21 by the end of his loan, which means we should by then have an indication if he's first team squad material , pre season game time etc or whether we let him go to Championship/ League 1 club. Hope he makes it the more talented youngster that come through the better and it sets the bar high for " the golden generation"

I doubt mattioni will stay on here, he seems to have had a lot of injuries already. Hopefully Grant can impress at league one level and then push for our first team. IIRC Galloway only played at L1 level before we bought him and we didn't feel the need to send him out on loan again.

So did Dele Alli I believe. Pretty hard to tell from an outside point of view what counts as 'enough experience'.

Yeah, it looks like football league experience outside Everton is a key criteria for our youngsters , Browning went out on loan and I can't think who the last youngster was who made regular first team appearances without having some external experience either on loan or before we bought him, maybe Jack Rodwell ?

Spurs have shown with several players lately that they can still get first team games after loads of loans ie.Kane, mason, Carroll. Similar to Osman really

Maybe he wants to look at the players he's going to be working with long term.

Ya hard to know.a middlesbrough loanee was keeping him out of the team when he first went there but i thought after his goal he might get a run but like you said he might be trying players but if thats the case then he must not have been impressing in training.

Loves his footy :)

Doncaster Rovers: Grant’s delight at longer loan stay

Conor Grant says he is excited to see what the rest of the season holds after extending his loan from Everton with Doncaster Rovers.

The classy midfielder has proved to be a major hit since arriving at the Keepmoat at the end of October, scoring four goals in 11 appearances.

He said: “I’m really excited and I’m just looking forward to the rest of the season.

“I’ve loved every minute of it so far and I’ve just come here and played my footy.

“That’s what I want to do for the rest of the season, play my footy, win games and keep us moving up the table.

“That’s the most important thing.”
