I don't understand how Garbutt can be playing so badly.

He always looked decent for us. Could it be that he doesn't fit in with the Fulham squad/tactics? Or perhaps he's just in a poor run of form?

Do they tend to play full backs or wingbacks? I watched them a few months back and he was brilliant as a wingback without a massive dependence on defending, Fulham played a back 3 due to injury. Since then he has been rather poor

I'm not sure. He was great going forward for us, and his crosses/corners were great. Yes he was defensively frail but so are a lot of youngsters without experience.

Just don't see how he's managed to be so bad.

Agree with your first statement . The odd bits I've seen of him he looked out of position for a few goals and no great desire to get back at pace - then again from highlights you only see the oppositions best bits, Fulham's worst bits.

For your last bit, I'm not sure just how bad he's been. Fulham, as a team have been poor and while he hasn't played every game he played Saturday and frequently. So maybe the manager doesn't think he's too bad. When your team is struggling to keep out of the relegation zone, the fans view on players can often be over critical and its their comments on Garbutt I see most often criticising him. I could probably compile a dossier on Baines and Coleman from GOT comments proving that both are absolute shoite. I'm hopeful that when he returns for next season he can provide competition for the LB spot.

Great perspective there, I was probably paying too much attention to fan comments after poor matches etc. Should know better really having been hanging around this forum for a while! Tinted glasses and all that.

If I could give you +rep I would ;)

League One
Walsall - Matthew Pennington played full match in 2-1 away win over Gillingham

OS Match Report
"Matthew Pennington’s ball was flicked on by Lalkovic for Sawyers, who found Forde but his shot from a tight angle was blocked."

Twitter stuff
63' - Pennington's back header is short but Etheridge gets there first before McDonald. 0-0
66' - Great move from Walsall. Pennington's ball is flicked on by Lalkovic to Sawyers, he finds Forde, whose shot is blocked. 0-0

Random fan comments
Nothing against Pennington but we don't look as organised at the back without OConnor.
Pennington won some great headers against their gorillas.

Looks like Walsall have good chance of making the Playoffs so great experience for Pennington . Playing centre half in a better team should be a step up for him from his spell at Coventry last season. I have of course now switched my League 1 Playoff allegiance from Barnsley to Walsall, with Wigan for automatic promotion!

Their official article about him is very positive

Yeovil Town are delighted to announce that Liam Walsh has extended his loan at Huish Park.

Liam has made 12 appearances for the Glovers and has been a standout signing by manager Darren Way.

18-year-old Walsh has put in numerous man-of-the-match performances since he signed early in January.

Darren Way said: "Liam was my first signing as manager and he has shouldered the responsibility of helping this club away from the position we were in like a man. I am looking forward to seeing where Liam's career goes in the future. I am sure he has a very, very bright future ahead of him.

"We have gained a valuable trust and relationship with Everton and I look forward to working with them again in the future"

....this lad is clearly doing everything asked of him in the step up to league football. The fact that his performances are consistently good at such a tender age and in a competitive league is a clear sign that he has a future in the game.

makes it even more important that our next manager has a proven record of trusting youth. i would hope to see walsh and dowell involved with the first team next season whoever is in charge.

yep - I was worried about him going out to be honest, not for his attitude or ability - just for his size, there are some bad grocs in that league and i figured it would be a big step up for him.

The fact he has gone there, left half these grocs in his wake or on the floor after a 50-50 tackle speaks volumes to me. Got lots of MOM and team of the week awards too - am made up to see him go out and push on.
