Everton players out on loan (2015/16)

Yeah you have to say he's made the most progress on loan ths season, great that he's done so well, and for me a wee bit of a surprise . Not in his ability, but at the beginning of the season I'd have placed him low down in any ordering of the young midfielders of Ledson, Dowell, Evans , Williams and Davies. But , well though he's done, I think he could need another year of development before being exposed to the 1st team, there have been mistakes this season including the red card. He looks like he's got the right attitude to learn from his mistakes though and he appears to thrive on the challenge.

Bottom line for me is its League 2 that he's done so well in, we didn't rush the likes of Stones, Galloway or Holgate into our squad and they played in higher leagues than Walsh.

that could be due to martinez being such a conservative manager though with no guts.

League One
Wigan Athletic - Conor McAleny started and was subbed in the 40th minute of 1-3 away loss at Doncaster Rovers

OS Match Report
"When Michael Jacobs – a surprise early substitution for Conor McAleny in the 40th minute – set up a great counter attack with virtually his first touch of the game. Yanic Wildschut rampaged through the Rovers back four..."

Was he injured or has Caldwell finally realised how crap he is.
Manager quoted as being a tactical substitution. Totally disagree about the crap comment as well.
I think he's been fantastic. Vital goals out of nothing against Walsall and Shrewsbury, changed the game against Rochdale and scored.

Walsall - Matthew Pennington played full match in 1-0 home win over Southend United

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
82' - CLOSE! Hurst's low strike is blocked by Pennington from virtually on the line. 0-0

Random fan comments
Pennington - 100% my man of the match. Superb. Reminds me of Andy Butler. Whichever division we're in next year I'd love us to sign him. 9
I would just like to add a word of praise to whoever got Pennington in...he was outstanding today and is real quality. He could have been man of the match but was pipped by the excellent Henry who was in his best position of left back.
Absolutely love Pennington his play is aggressive and looks like he would run through a brick wall for the cause.
Hard to single out a performance above any other but I thought Pennington was really in the groove today.

(Note that Bentley, the young Southend keeper that we and a few other PL clubs have been linked with, apparently had a brilliant game. Out of contract at end of season.)

League Two
Yeovil Town - Liam Walsh played full match in 1-2 away defeat at Bristol Rovers

OS Match Report

Despite defeat, Yeovil Town secured League status next year...

Cambridge United - Ryan Ledson played full match in 0-0 home draw with Carlisle United (ex-EFC youth player Hallam Hope sent off for Carlisle)

OS Match Report
"Half chances were presented to Ryan Ledson and Jimmy Spencer before the break, but the pair were both off target as United began to build pressure on the Cumbrians in order to take advantage of the extra man."

Twitter stuff
54' Ledson whips a good ball in which is directed away from danger and out for a corner

Random fan comments
Bez down the middle instead of Ledson who has been below par for a while now
Ledson for a premier prospect not a lot of quality lots of hopeless balls

Oxford United - Jonjoe Kenny played full match and was booked in 2-3 home defeat by Luton Town

OS Match Report
"First Kenny’s back pass forced Benji Buchel wide and he stumbled, presenting the ball to Josh McQuoid who squared for Piggott to tap home and stun the home fans as he made it 1-1."

Twitter stuff
53' Maguire and Kenny come together well in the corner to force a goal kick off the lurking Luton forward 2-2
60' Mullins chases down Mpanzu to deny an attack through the wing. The U's break, Kenny shoots - it's over 2-3
75' Quick reactions from Sercombe to block an attempted forward ball on the wing.Luton's throw in results in Kenny fouling McQuoid 2-3
75' YELLOW | Kenny is booked for his late challenge on McQuoid. The free kick comes to nothing 2-3

Random fan comments
Seen the goals, at the time I thought Kenny could shoulder some of the blame for the first goal but no it is 100% Buchel's error.
The full backs are being targetted and whilst Kenny defends soundly, Evans struggles on that aspect of the game.
Drop Kenny to the bench.

....cheers Matey. I didn't know we were 'interested' in Bentley but I have been banging on about him since last season's play offs. Hope we have enquired about him.

Bit ironic for Ledson and Kenny, they go out on loan to progress, then see Connolly and Davies come into thr RB and midfield slots that at the start of the season you'd have said they would be the most likely youngsters providing cover for those positions. Re the Ledson comment about " lots of hopeless balls" , there's no doubt he can hit an accurate 40 yd pass, but he may have to temper his expectations that a League2 player will see the possibility too and get on the end of it. .

Perhaps they dont see or make the runs. However thats something he needs to factor in to his game.

Also, slightly off topic, i mentioned Rico Henry before (only twice!) On the forum and seems he pipped Pennington to man of the match, hope our scouts picked that up.

Swiss Super League
GC Zurich - Shani Tarashaj started and was subbed at half time in 1-2 away defeat at FC Sion

Random fan comments
Tarashaj sorry but what is he doing going to England? I always thought he was overrated and at the moment his performances are rubbish.
Tarashaj? He wouldn't even get in Everton's reserve team.

ive been wondering that myself, think he has a long way to go before he has any impact on our first team

Posted this in the youth teams thread also, but here's probably better:

Matty Pennington seems to be impressing whilst out on loan at Walsall, earning praise from their manager. Seems to have an excellent attitude for a young player which will stand him in good stead moving forward.

For the limited number of games that i've seen him play, he looks to be a Jagielka sort of centre half, and with Jags being 34 in August could get his chance soon. Big pre season ahead for him but I'm sure he's looking forward to the challenge.

22' Latics' first corner of the game, McAleny with the ball towards the near post, but Jacobs couldn't flick it on.
24' CLOSE!! @CMcAleny works the smallest of gaps in the box and drags a shot narrowly past the right post! Deflection wins a corner.
29' Another corner for Latics now, @CMcAleny to take.
29' Corner whipped to the near post and bounced through to the middle of the area, Burton hacked it clear.
34' Good pressure from Latics in the final third, the ball fell free to McAleny in the box, but a last ditch block stopped him!

Random fan comments
McAleny was poor while we were in the ascendency in the first half, constanly outmuscled off the ball, giving away possesion.
...as I said previously, can't pass the ball and lightweight, he added another dimension to his game this evening - his corners are crap.as well.
In a tough, scrappy game he was far from great. But he did more than Wildschut.

Walsall - Matthew Pennington played full match in 1-1 home draw with Swindon Town

OS Match Report
"Obika made headway down the right, skipping past Matthew Pennington and cutting the ball back for Doughty, who side-footed disappointingly wide."

Random fan comment
Pennington will go on to play at a high level, what a class player. If we managed to get him on loan again next season i would be amazed.

League Two
Cambridge United - Ryan Ledson started and was subbed in 78th minute of 7-0 win over Morecambe
