Transfer Rumour Everton poised to make £25m bid for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney

Oh I know he's a massive fan and been seen in the Celtic crowd a few times. He would probably love to play for you but when it comes to footballers, 99% of them only care about money. I'd like to think that he has made enough so will happily take a 50% pay cut but cant see it at all. Unless he gets a few million signing on fee.

Isnt Tierney your highest earner? Whats he on, guessing about £20-25k.

True.

Could you please saying "You"? I'm not a Celtic fan, which is why I'm championing your move for Tierney. lol

The problem Scotland have is the youth are dealing with issues of FASD which has increased fourfold in the past generation.

The talent pool is shrinking due to parents having substance abuse.

Yeahhhhh.... and I'm the troll. ;)

Nice one. :)

McCarthy is a Celtic fan and things are going too well at Everton, so I don't think it would be much of an issue.

As a Scotland fan, though, I never want to see McCarthy playing in Scotland again... same with McGeady.
wages mate and you cant tell me macca is worth 3 times as much as tierney

Aberdeen signed Mikey Devlin from Hamilton in January, even though he was 5 months into a 10 month injury lay-off. He had a cruciate ligament injury: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport...mikey-devlin-completes-aberdeen-move-11918398

That doesnt mean he didnt have a medical.

You can still take a medical when injured and besides, im not sure people care about insurance when the player your buying is for 80k.

When your talking about players worth 10m, well then insurance becomes an issue.

Does Iceland ring any bells?

The England youth teams are good, they will things, etc, but there is a quantum leap between youth football and adult football. I remember Scotland played Spain in the Under 19 European championship final. Spain won 2:1. Looking at the team-sheets only Piqué, Mata and Dorrans (Snodgrass would've played but I think he was suspended for the final) made it in top flight football. There's a long road from youth football to grown up football

What a load of tosh again. Click the link and see that all of the Spainish squad play or did play at top flight football.

Never bothered with the Scottish players but know Lee Wallace plays for Rangers.

With the teams interested he will go for a big fee. Also take into account he is leaving champions league football.

It was probably Celtic that leaked the story to push his price up.

Mourinho tends to go for the finished product though and with him under pressure to close the gap to city I think he’ll want a more established player. He’s already spend big on a young defender from Portugal, I’d be surprised if he goes for another young defender for big money.

Yeah I was going to say he doesnt fit the type Jose normally goes for.

I certainly think money is the downfall of genuine competitiveness. Of course I would love for Everton to have been taken over by an oil sheikh and battered the league like Man City if being an also ran is the alternative. However considering the cash they've spent it has a hallow feel to it.
As for the England national team, I couldn't be less interested. Over the last 2 decades, whenever an Everton player does well there he's too good for Everton. Conversely whenever an Everton player is within a stones throw of an England defeat it's their fault.
Sincerely hope Pickford gets a gentle upset stomach, misses the next game and the rest of them are tonked 5 without reply.
In trying to be fair to them, under Southgate they seem to be doing ok. I think his relaxed, down to earth demeanour rubs off on them. 'The Golden Generation' were a bunch of egotistical arrogant big heads, Lampard and Scholes apart.
Anyway, genuinely and without the slightest of sarcasm I hope Scotland get to euros in 2 years. You're a sound bunch on the whole and a proper footie nation.

I know, it's a strange one, I still don't view Man City as a big club. In my view big clubs are more about history and tradition than being randomly purchased by a multi-billionaire and pumped with money and superstars. Tradition is one thing that money can't buy, at least not on the short term, maybe in 50 years Man City will have a trandition, but no matter how glorious it may seem, it'll always be tainted.

lol I'm on board with England being tonked 5:0. ;)

Thank you, that's very nice of you. We are building a base with Robertson, Tierney, McTominay, etc, but it'll be a long road ahead. Personally, I want Tierney and McGregor, Griffiths, et al, to leave Celtic and go abroad. I feel that the more our players play in the UK they're just keeping themselves in a secure place rather than testing themselves by learning new cultures and a new way to play football.

The lad couldn't even walk. Yes, he probably passed a medical, but not a traditional one. I doubt James McCarthy is akin to sleeping beauty and unable to undertake a slight medical.

Tierney will definitely be playing for Manchester United in about 5 years. McCarthy will probably be playing for Crystal Palace in a couple years.

Even Chris Sutton has said that Tierney is the best British left back. If teams in England weren't so snobbish about Scottish football then Liverpool would've gotten Van Dijk for £13m, as opposed to £75m.

An absolute top perk of the job, don't know why more don't do it.

I meant in a possible swap deal ie cash plus macarthy I agree with your sentiments about tierney hes going to the top.

They are snobbish for good reason, its dire.

Even Holland didn't pick Van Dijk till he went to Southampton.
