Everton reopen talks with Sam Allardyce

I just can't see at all who the answer is THIS season mate. People seem to be flapping thinking about 3 or 4 years down the line, but why? Our Premier League status is under it's biggest threat for nearly 2 decades. What are people seeing to think this can possibly take us backwards from where we already are?

See I do agree with this, its hard to answer who it SHOULD be right now because of the mess we have been put in by the board, if they where sacking Koeman at this time of the year they should have had a plan, If we hired 2 weeks after he left we would be in a better position. but this dilly dallying has ruined this completely.

We are in a crap position, and its very worrying - but assuming that Sam can come in and it will automatically see a dramatic upturn in form is far from what I believe the truth will be.

Similar to what you are saying about what are people seeing to think this can take us backwards, I haven't seen an argument to understand why people think this is a major positive. I asked someone yesterday for an explanation, and all I got was "ITS A FACT WE WILL BE BETTER UNDER SAM". Well its not a fact, because no-one knows.

Its assumptions (on both sides ill agree), I just blame the board for the complete and utter mess they have left us with.

People keep saying "who is" in 5/6 weeks we should have been able to do enough due diligence on the managers in world football who could have an interest in coming, who fit a template we want at the club. Non of the managers follow the same suit, one is a percentage football lover, ones a long ball merchant, ones a high pressing manager, ones a passing manager.

What are we trying to be? The important of this appointment goes past who it is in my opinion.

there is plenty of good managers out there who would have been interested in this job, my belief is that we dont look at anyone who hasn't got prem experience - Marco Silva 100% would not be on the boards mind last year if we where in this situation then, we are not brave or bold enough to do something different.

I just don't think Sam Allardyce is the answer to do with anything with our club...
I do quite literally mean though, who is.

We are not an attractive proposition right now, any decent manager with half a brain who has watched us should steer clear to save their own reputations - as it could certainly be destroyed here if it doesn't go well.

We aren't just losing games, we're getting bent over - this is not attractive for anyone involved.

Koeman was apparently a presser, and yet I've never seen our team press once. So maybe it's the players and we judt need someone with the backbone to rocket them up the behind.

Well on the basis that most people's defence of Allardyce appears to be that he kept Sunderland up, why not Paolo Di Canio, Gus Poyet or [Poor language removed] Advocaat, who did exactly the same thing? Poyet actually took over at exactly the same stage of the season as Allardyce and got 6 points more, so he seems a better candidate to me. WELCOME GUS.
Maybe cos they have only experienced it rhat once?

They should have gone and got Dyche during the last international break. Or even Fonseca if they actually wanted him, mad how they've only just thought now that he could be a 4th or 5th option. They've left us in this position due to their own incompetence and we have to make what we can of it. I'll say it again - we will never behave like a proper club until it's completely overhauled off the pitch.

Completely agree with that point I've said it plenty of times, he talked a good game but I never seen us play the "aggressive pressing football" he wanted to play.

Thing is reputations could be destroyed or made - I would 100000% bet the board didn't know Marco Silva last year because they are incompetent but they now want him because he has prem experience. In reality though there is plenty of managers abroad with similar if not better records who would give their right arm to have the same opportunity he had.

I disagree with the Sam view mate, but everything above I 100% agree with. They have screwed us royally, Fonseca said after we sacked Koeman he wants to "manage in England soon"... if they only contacted him on Friday they should be forced to resign for incompetence.

We make a media release (Jim white) saying we are close, then start contacting managers that day....

Absolutely pathetic.

And what if we end up in the bottom 3 with Sam in charge??

Wil he still be the answer then?

Imagine how toxic this club will be if that happens??
If that happens, then it really points to problems outside of any managers control. These players were doomed from the outset.

There are two key stages in our survival. The first being the appointment of the right manager. No one can be completely sure who is the person able to get us out. But I suppose Big Sam is the surest thing out there. The second being the recruitment in the winter window. Judging by our track record recently this could all go tits up. I think Walsh needs replacing. I have no idea if Sam can recruit well when given substantial funds.

Kenwright was desperate for Unsworth to prove himself ready for the job so he could give it to him. Sounds mad to say, but if Cleverley had slotted that penalty then they would probably have been forced into action during the international break there and then. The win bought Unsworth a couple more games. That's how sad and pathetic the people that run our club actually are.
