Everton reopen talks with Sam Allardyce

Unsworth and Martinez tried the arm around the shoulder softly softly approach - and were openly laughed at by the players.

Koeman was also hands off, albeit in a different way in the sense that he didn't bother to interact with the players very much - and got the same treatment.

No, what we need now is a man who is extremely hands on and will instruct the players on their roles and drill them day to day. Maybe that's the kind of manager Moyes was, and Allardyce is.

I rarely agree with you Kev, but you are spot on. Blame owners, blame ex managers, blame Bill. No point. Them players have been pathetic with one or two exceptions.

Them fans clapped Bill when his face came on the screen at the Villa game. Thats when i knew it was time to bin my season ticket.

We have allowed this, its our fault as fans.

The fans have no real power to influence anything mate, let’s not kid ourselves. Money is the prime motivator, and our season ticket income is a drop in the ocean. They wouldn’t be arsed if the ground was empty, as Sky are footing the bill.

The board though have led some of our fans gullible enough to believe we were punching above our weight for years. You get some fans who can’t see no wrong in Kenwright and who can’t see the woods for the trees, but even those who clapped him, they don’t deserve this.

We were all promised ‘nothing will be the same’ when Moshiri came and they were right, but not in a good way.

So we're appointing Allardyce with two special clauses in the contract: 1) he is sacked at the end of every season; 2) he is reappointed the following season if we ever have fewer points than we have played games.

And if the players don't take kindly to being fronted up? Has he ever dealt with a bigger group of egotists? I reckon his approach will turn out to be kicking them when they're already down and won't work. This bunch need confidence restoring, organising and coaching not the fear of Thunderhead.

This is my fear. He comes in cracking skulls and then the players just shrink further. Worrying times, I've no clue what the answer is. Just hope to god we stay up somehow.

How you handle players (or indeed any subordinates) is not as important as what you ask them to do and whether they believe in it.

Martinez in his second and last season, Koeman for all of this season and most of last, and (sadly) Unsworth bar about 30 minutes of his time have all asked our players to carry out tactics that they do not believe in. What is worse is that we don't believe in them either. If BFS comes in and changes the way we play (and its hard to see how he could make it any worse) then we might start to see an improvement.

You cannot deny that the last 3 managers we have had have been hands off though. They've not drilled the players.

The most worrying trend here is that a growing number seem to want defeat just to prove Allardyce isn’t the man. For gods sake it doesn’t matter who is manager this club must stay in this division anyone wanting different is insulting our club and past generations. Support the name nothing else and put your Football snobbery in the won nothing for 22 years box

No, but even if they had drilled them to carry out the prescribed tactics we would not have seen any kind of success. How many other teams in Europe (never mind other teams in Europe that are likely to win things) are set up like we are?
