Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

The Independent reporting Utd and Chelsea are looking at Toney.

Sky reporting Bourmouth are sounding out a Nketitah deal.

Where's left for Don - Fulham, Brentford maybe, would Newcastle come back in.

Beginning to think signing a new deal maybe with a clause is the win/win here.
I agree. As we’ve discussed I think it would be crazy not to take a contract this summer, between now and next summer anything could happen. A contract with a reasonable release clause could break the deadlock a bit.

25 million clause and a bump in his wage - forgives a lot of sins mate.

Dom gets a bump for a year, he's protected in the event of injuries, negates fan unrest and disruption, we get a return and look it again next summer when we can plan around BMD increased revenue.

Phillips or McTominay, and I'd be fine with us going like that into the season. We'd still be short but being realistic I think we'd do and honestly I'd prefer we do that before sales if possible. That way we can focus just on getting rid of the likes of Holgate who'll never play a minute regardless and if an offer comes in for DCL or someone then it's a 1-in-1-out situation.

Worst thing we could do now with the rumours is sell DCL and gamble on bringing in a midfielder and his replacement for his money as the season is already started, I don't trust the club to get the deals done.
Yeah I could list positions I’d like strengthened but if all we can do is one decent quality midfielder it wouldn’t be the end of the world. One extra CM gives you a bit of flexibility- you can move Garner to RB in an pinch, and you have flexible options for CM, AM and the wide positions between the players we’ve brought in. Certainly if we can only do one more signing it has to be the one.

Would prefer a winger if im being honest.

The Gnonto/Philly slot so to say.

Shouldn't be giving Utd the slightest hint that we want one of their players as ot would encourage them to come back in for Branthwaite.

Selling Branthwaite for cash plus McTominay would be such a pathetically Everton thing to do. Should steer well clear.

Plus, McTominay ain't all that. Gets goals but is a very limited player and would have to play as a no 10. A no 10 with no creativity or skill is very limiting to a side, even if they contribute goals. We had it with Cahill (who I did love) but he did limit our ability to improve - particularly when his goals started to dry up. McTominay is also very poor as an 8 or 6.

Avoid completely imo.
Unless their deal with de Ligt collapses their internet in Branthwaithe is over

Fair enough, for me that would still leave Doucoure and the inexperienced Tim as part of our 4 midfield options, and Gana is ageing.

In turn you’re then relying on Ndiaye / Lindstrøm / Harrison to be the ten, which effectively reduces your wide options.

Would love both but think a CM rounds off the squad depth much better. With two loans though it’s hopefully not either or.

I’m ok with all that mate to be honest mate.

Winger the priority for me.

Goals, goals, goals, threat and creativity is what the side has been sorely lacking for two seasons.

If we want to progress our aim has to be 50+ goals.

Priority 1 in my opinion.

But as you say would be nice to do both.

Which is another reason I think we went for the lad from Barca

It’s key to progress mate, we got by last year with a mean defensive record, it wall papered over the cracks of our inability to score and got us results.

If we went behind, we knew the best we could do was probably a draw. If we went 1 up we knew we had to hold as we were unlikely to score more.

We need to build on more than the 40 goals we got last season. It’s a massive deficiency and prob only good management saw us through.

Everything front loaded to the attacking positions in my opinion as a priority.
