Beto lost the ball 50% more often when he played last season and DCL won the ball in the air a third more. Not saying either of them is brilliant, but it actually is possible to see it in the stats.

I'd like to know the stats of Solanke as well, ball was hoofed a lot on him and he's a similar player to DCL, just much better in the build up and creating for himself.

100%. Given our reliance on long ball and our tendency to leave the striker pretty isolated, DCL's ability to win the ball in the air and bring others into the game is huge. He also loses the ball a lot less than Beto.

Conversely without him we may stop hoofing the ball up to him. 2 or 3 games a season where he is unplayable is not good enough for me. He is not a top half goal scorer bar one Covid season. Time to move on, get rid IMO

I actually look forward to deadline day, not for the transfers but for the fact that everyone seems to get onto this thread on GOT (even those usually nutters) but then everyone becomes a nutter for a day! magical!!

The 6 games last season that DCL missed amounted to less than one point difference mate.

Look at the games he starts, and plays over 37 minutes v the ones he doesn't buddy. The difference is stark.

again, not saying we shouldn't get rid. just saying he's better than beto. would love it if we had better
