Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

Imagine you have been to court a couple of times for speeding down the same road. First two times you done so it was because you were not concentrating and the speed of which you were over the limit was minimal. The judge gives an initial harsh punishment but the second time a lesser charge as they take into account the first charge.

So the next week you drive down that road again this time you purposely speed and break the rules by a larger margin. Do you think a judge will give you the same lesser charge because it doesn't matter how bad you broke the rules because breaking the rules is breaking the rules.

That is your argument. Stop trying to win the internet.

That’s not at all what he said, he said it would be “deliberate cheating” (his actual words)

We could argue that in the previous years we have been punished for, that we weren’t willingly breaking the rules and in fact did try to comply by selling the likes of Richarlison. So I don’t think they could go down the road of “you’ve willingly broken the rules 3 years running”

But with the argument you and others are making, this bit wouldn’t happen lol in fact that wouldn’t happen full stop in that scenario. So not a very good analogy if I’m being honest mate.

Why wouldn't happen? Cos you said so?

The law is decided by judges or panels making judgements lad, some are more lenient some are more harsh. That is why there is an appeal process which Everton used on the first charge. And was going to use on the more lenient second charge.

if you want to focus on the facts then these are the facts

22/23 season - turnover was £172.155 mil and operating expenses were £302.615 mil

the club is operating at a loss last season at exactly 130.46 mil before player trading

if we remove player trading from the equation then that means over the course of 3 seasons at this rate, the club will be operating at a loss of 391.38 mil

under the current rules a club cannot make a loss of over 105 mil over 3 seasons

taking into consideration the 105 mil allowance, that means we would need to recoup 286.38 mil from player sales over the course of the next 3 seasons

now are we going to make 130 mil losses every season? one would hope not and would hope that the situation does improve dramatically and our accounts will look better next season

obviously when we move into Bramley Moore we will make more money and turnover will increase and hopefully we get better sponsorship deals and turnover increases

the fact is that we are going to be in a massive hole of at least 200 mil which means we will have no choice but to sell our best players over the next 3 seasons in order to comply with the rules

The club proactively briefing their preferred journos that we don't need to sell, makes me think we desperately need to sell to be compliant.
The sales at the start of the accounting period may have an influence on that. We already have about 50m in sales already for year ended June 24 and my reckoning is that our players wage bill should drop by about 15m-20m.

Sorry, why are we removing player trading?

This is why you should do your own research...

Summerville 22
Rutter 22
Ampadu 23
Gray 18
Gnonto 20

Are Leeds best players...there may be an argument for Rodon the centre back but hes on loan so not their player.

Again, their best players have been the young ones.
Says who?

Rutter got 8 goals in the Championship? Is that being one of there best players? Piroe got more & Bamford (who is terrible) got the same!

Dan James out performed Gnonto in terms of goals scored and turning up in big games!

Ampadu was very good first half of season but dropped off a cliff 2nd half (don't know if that's being moved to centre back or just a young player being naive to how long the season is). He could of easily been put back in centre mid and put Cooper in who would of shown that experience of promotion in the run in!

Leed's problem is they ended up having to rely on the talented young players and they didn't have enough experience to get over the line!

Look at that Championship final, all very huff and puff with none of your list of great leeds players stepping up wheras Southampton pretty much fielded the most experienced side they could, leaving the likes of Charles, Edozie & Sulemana on the bench opting for your Stephens', Downes', Frasers' & Armstorongs'

to show how much money we would need to make from player sales to stay within the limits

also those sales would need to be net sales because if we sign players then that will affect the player trading amounts as well

But if we sell Branthwaite for £80m then suddenly our loss drops from £130m to £50m, surely things like that have to be taken into account when doing these long term doomsday forecasts?

For argument sake, why should we be low balled a fee for a player we rate highly and have a bigger ceiling.

Onana and Branthwaite have a price tag so clubs have to pay it.

If we NEED the money, why should we accept a lesser fee due to a deadline when the punishment is a point deduction and next season we could get another point deduction and have sell another asset because we got less

However, our losses for PSR purposes were only a fraction of those losses.
