Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

A few seasons ago Broja was this forum’s favourite. Now he’s the worst possible signing we could make. This place. Its Bielsa all over again ‘we should have gone for him, why didn’t we go for Bielsa’ then when we actually are linked with him ‘oh god no not him he’ll take us down’.
Yeah but a few seasons ago he looked quite promising. Since then hes had injuries and looked quite poor when ive seen him.

And what has Broja done in those few seasons. Nothing. He's no longer an exciting prospect, he's proven to be a forward who doesn't score many goals in the Premier League despite having plenty of playing time. Not changing your opinion when the evidence changes is the weird thing.

Very true.

Still only 22 though so on that same trail of thought - maybe some are too reactive/write people off too quick.

SSN is saying Elanga to Newcastle with Elliot Anderson potentially going the other way
Must have either misread it or dreamed it!
Oh good , I'm not going nuts!

He might turn out good, plenty of examples of forwards coming good in their twenties but it's a less exciting prospect than a couple of years ago.

Personally, I'd be disappointed if we spent the rumoured £30m on him.
It's the £30m element when we don't have much cash to play with. I thought he looked ok at Southampton but he seems to have gone backwards.

“A few seasons” is a long time in football. Reasonable people can change their opinions according to the evidence presented to them and Broja has presented very little evidence of being the player a lot of people in football thought he’d be.

Clinging to an opinion in the face of evidence to the contrary is dumber than changing your mind.
