Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Yes and you can do that through amortisation.

The big thing is wages, we can get them down to a manageable level, by the time we’re in BMD.

And most clubs have debts, it’s just managing them
It's not debt that's damaging us but losses. Amortization causes longer term payments that need to be serviced. Selling a player for 50m and then spending an amount to create 50m of yearly payments means you need to sell a 50m player/s every year without investing further for a few years just to break even. Amortization isn't magic.

Hes a bit like Koulibaly and the other similarity is that he looked like an inconsistent / dodgy player when he first joined Torino about 3 years ago -- as Koulibaly did when he joined Napoli.

We were linked with Bremer 2 years ago for £10mil. I reckon £30-40mil would do it thesedays.

Him and Godfrey would be a good pairing.
Off to Inter

Not a chance.

Really? I think we'll definitely be spending alot...if, as i said we make the necessary sales.

Well Richarlison and DCL I still think you’re looking at 50mil. I know DCL has had a tough season and Richarlison hasn’t been at his best, but both still young. Amd it depends on the clubs coming in. Im
Hoping Newcastle come in for DCL

Like has been mentioned the 4 OOC players cost close to 20mil in the books and probably not far off 15mil in wages.

Then you’re looking at Mina, I still think at 27 some teams will take a punt on him for say 10mil. Worth a gamble And the teams interested won’t be out off by his wages. He’s a very good defender when fit.

Allan rumours of lazio amd Sarri his manager at Napoli interested.

Moise kean the obligation is 25mil I think, juve apparently don’t want him, so are looking to buy him and move him on to psg.

Then it’s trying to get the best we can for Holgate/Gbamin/Gomes etc

If we get the £25mil for Kean that would be a huge help.

£30mil for Keane, Mina, Holgate
£20mil for Allan, Gomes and Gbamin

Thats £75mil before we look at the 'name' players.

Plus, (as you said) the on the books savings from the out of contract players as well as the loan signings.

All the above can be replaced by two centre backs and a central midfielder.

We'll spend if we can sell but I don't think it's a like for like. We can't continue losing 100m per year. We need to start balancing the books.

The wages will come down by quite alot with the out of contract players as well as the loans.

In addition some of the out of contract players as well as Digne have amortized fees which will end.

If we did manage to move on Allan, Gomes and Gbamin they could be replaced by one player...Keane, Holgate and Mina by two.

Even if were spending the same amount as we bring in this summer, there should be a significant saving from the above.

Well If we bring in 50mil and then spend 50mil on amortisation costs. That basically means we’d have spent 200/250mil on new signings. While just selling DCL. Not really sure you understand how it works

But yes you’re right we ain’t bringing in 50mil and spending 250mil, with the wage bill going up by probably 20mil in the process.

Say we brought in 120 and dropped the wage bill by 35mil we probably dropped it by 25mil this season.

So we spend 40 on amortisation costs this summer and 20mil in wages.

So the following summer we need to find that 40mil, well we sell Richarlison or gray or davies or iwobi, Keane. Add Doucoure , Allan, Coleman, Townsend, Rondon, begovic all OOC.
That’s potentially 15/20mil in wages and 15mil in fees.

This is how we will have to do it for the next few years, as long as our recruitment improves, it’s possible to do this and improve as a team and compete. We just need to be a lot cleverer. Hopefully this DOF and Frank are.

Remember its a rolling 3 year period.

So with this season being a limited transfer spend, if we only spend what we bring in this summer (and save alot in wages) then next summer will be 3rd year of the rolling rules -- where weve broken even for 2 years on transfers + saved wages.

Obviously it will depend on whether we're in the PL or not, but with the finances as they are I suspect the finances will be limited - we'll make a net profit.

I guess it'll boil down to what people understand to be a lot, however I'd be very surprised if we exceeded 50m; I'd be surprised if we got near to that figure.

30 million for Holgate?

You're both oversimplifying things. We've been losing 100m+ a year. The last accounts showed salary/revenue at a ridiculous ratio. Yes, we probably reduced losses recently but revenue is also reducing from a lower league finish, overly inflated sponsorship deals ending and let's be honest, creative accounting for COVID can't go on indefinitely. There is a huge amount of money to be found for us to operate within the rules. We can't just sell and splash out Megabucks again. We will spend this summer, assuming we sell, but we can't just ignore the reality. Some prudence is still required.

…Moise Kean, played 26 games (4 goals) for Juventus but I don’t think we activate a transfer fee until this time next season.
Apparently he wants to leave and they don’t want him. So liking to buy him
This summer to sell him onto psg, also I think Nice have been linked, maybe a few other Italian clubs might be interested.

We also need to reassess our objectives I think. Hopefully (if we stay up) the club is putting aside all notions of chasing the top 4 in the near future, the sensible thing to do is to just consolidate ourselves in midtable with a younger team and look to build over the next few years. To do that it is absolutely not necessary to go out and spend daft money. Cue us chucking £100m at a load of has beens and never wills.

I agree.

But we don’t know, if the board and Moshiri got together last summer and thought, we’re struggling financially and in bit of a hole. But so we just get through the next 3 yrs to BDM, a lot of OOC players will go, we can try sell the older players on high wages, like they did with Digne, maybe that was Rafael, but it was still a good deal for us imo. Nearly 30, getting injuries, I think he’s injured again now. And On a high wage.

You keep your best players if possible, and just make sure we stay under the threshold. Over that 3 years you improve the books, if only slightly. Next years books will be better than the ones that have just come out. And by then we could have had a bit of a reset to kick on again. Also we could always sell a DCL, Richarlison or Pickford if we needed the cash.

Yes losing USM sponsorship is not great, but we will get other sponsorship deals. Apparently we have a better shirt deal than Cazoo lined up, if we stay up.

The club won’t want to rip the squad apart and give Frank 3/4 kids and the odd loan and free, we could be in the same position this time next season.

If we were in such a mess, these accounts were signed off last October. The club would have none this last summer. It would have been a great time to sell DCL, but they didn’t.
