As an aside to everyone saying sell Mina.

Two set of statistics from last season

Games he played.
Played 13
, won 6, drew 3, lost 4, 21/39 points

Games he didn't play.
25 games
, won 5, drew 3, lost 16, 18/75 points.

Basically him present the team averages what would end up at 60/61 points over a season.
When he's absent extrapolated out wed end up on 27 points.
I think it is the fact he only plays 13 games that is the issue.... We all agree he is good, he's just permanently in some state of disrepair.

Im lost here Tim, honestly, im bowing out cos I suspect im chatting wham.

Good day to you sir.

I don't know football finance at all, just trying to apply what I do know about accounts to football. Ordinarily wage costs would be nowhere near a balance sheet, so wouldn't be in a book value, because they are an expense. But most businesses don't employ footballers either, or account for individuals (i.e. players) as assets, so I could be totally wrong.

Long story short, what I expected to be the case was that just the transfer fee paid goes towards a player's book value, and not their associated costs like their wages. So basic example, a team signs a player for £5m on a 5 year deal, their book value after year 4 has been amortised down to £1m. But as I said, that is just what I expect to be the case, and absolutely could be totally wrong! It could well be right that their wages are factored into their book value.

Sadly big Kev and big Frank love it.

It's more a 343 though isn't it

Plus he’s out of contract at the end of the season so if he wants another one elsewhere he’ll have to prove his fitness

I bet he’s available for at least 25 games this season
i would take that bet (note matches played for Columbia DO NOT count)

I know people dont like this kind of talk, but, hes still got a very high book value.

And in order not to take a massive bath, we would need to clear about 17m for him.
As a quick fag packet calculation, signed for 25M€, 5M€/year amortisation, 3 years of his contract up... so 10M€ left book value, around 8M pounds.

As a example, if we let him go for free now, we´d write down 8M book value, but save 6M on wages, so 2M worse off this year and 11M better off next year.

Sell him for 4M and your books look 2M better off than they would if you keep him for the season...
