Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

I think if we stay in the prem then I’d be happy for us to make a few sensible free transfers in the vein of Tarkowski to keep us the right side of ffp and consolidate us a bit.

Think it’s a given that one of DCL and richarlison goes.

I think any money we get should be really focused on the middle of the park - could see all of allan/gomes/.delph/gbamin going. Having two competent defensive mid/centre mid would make us such a better team. Wonder how much Gallagher goes for in the summer.

Can write Townsend off for the best part of next season, so if Iwobi is seen as a midfielder I’d be all in for Brennan Johnson as an option.

As a Welshman I really think Ethan Ampadu has some talent as well, wouldn’t be surprised to see him moving this summer.

Basically…I want a Welsh player to be successful here to wipe out the memory of Simon Davies and Ashley Williams.

No, the type of player that has got us in a mess are Sandro, Gbamin, Klaassen, Iwobi, Allli, Patterson. Crap players that cost a lot of money but can barely get a game.

You're not going to convince me that signing a soon to-be 30 year old for huge money and big wages is a move in the right direction for this club.

To be fair mate, the memory of big Nev obliterates the memory of those two and most (not all) other Welsh Everton players.

….that’s fair enough, Stephen. I don’t like him in one-on-one situations. He stands face on with his feet planted and invariably fouls the opponent running at him. That’s fairly basic for a full back but fingers crossed he irons those things out. He certainly seems to have enthusiasm for the game and the club.

Wouldn’t want Tarkowski. Like Keane he’s unproven in a team that wants to push up the pitch and is a he good on the ball, which is what Frank will want, that’s hard to tell when you play for Burnley. He’s on 50k a week at Burnley so would want more than that and probably a 3 yr deal, so we will be stuck with him till 33.

I'm not sure tarkowski would be as rigid as Keane. I have no problem with a centre back staying until 33. Some of our most reliable centre backs were the ones in their mid 30s under Moyes. The likes of Weir, Stubbs, Distin, before that Dave Watson. But I guess if Lampard plays a high line then the defender would need to be a bit quicker and younger perhaps. It all depends what the style is that we are trying to achieve.

Well a high line and CB’s comfortable in possession is the style Franks wants imo. So it’s a big risk for someone unknown if he can play that style and it’s not like you can coach him at 30. He would also probably cost 20mil in wages and signing on fees. I’d rather take a punt on a youngster with potential

Ampadu and Gilmour coming up together at Chelsea may not be a bad combo in central midfield -- if not a bit lightweight perhaps though quite 'snidey'.

The interesting other Chelsea players would be Broja, Colwill and of course Gallagher.

Surely we stand a good chance to do some business with them due to the Lampard factor.

I wonder if we could get away with buying a top centre back and a top central midfielder (Bremer + Gallagher) if we used the loan market and took in a couple of Chelsea players on loan.

Minimal but effective business.
