Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

I can’t really see that we have much to spend. We lost over £100m last year.

The players we let go had wages of circa £20m-£25m. The sale of Richarlison adds £50m to the pot. We are still £25-£45m short. Some will be written off against the stadium, bu there doesnt look to be much wriggle room.

The lack of sales are what is killing us. It’s a double whammy of no transfer fee plus paying a high salary.

The lack of sales is bizarre.
Every year this thread is full of nonsense statements like this. We are in the predicament we’re in because the vast majority of our players are abysmal. The level of club they deserve to play for can’t afford the fee/wages. Apart from DCL, Pickford and maybe Mina we’re stuck with the lot of them until their contracts run out.

Yeah, I bet Andre Gomes is kicking himself that he can’t move on and give up his 80k a week deal (2 years left) for the 30-40k a week that other clubs will pay him.

We’ve got to learn from our mistakes. Salaries are the reason we can’t sell anyone. Why would they move?

Tosun wouldn’t even go on loan for the last 6 months of his contract. He earned too much money while he was with us. Set for life. He’s probably back on 10k a week in turkey. It doesn’t matter though.

If you want sales there’s DCL, Pickford and Gordon that we could get money for. Which ones of them would you like to move on?

Salaries are the only reason we sign anyone,it's all we've ever had to offer, not like we have European football or regular cup final appearances.

It’s entirely understandable, but it’s killing us.

we do need to get back to a model where players aren’t running their contracts out. We need to sell three or four players a season.

Fringe players should be on much less. Ours are on far too much.

We might have to start promoting from within a bit more. Desperately need a good batch of youth players to come through. Hopefully this is where Frank can work his magic. He certainly cant buy his way to building his squad.

Promoting youth players is the only real option to us. They need to start finding ways of giving them ten or fifteen minutes here and there.

Zat... Our players on the market are complete trash on high wages. It's not hard to understand.

Why?
Our lot are either crap , overpaid or both.
Where's the attraction to a buyer?

Its the wages. Nobody is going to match the wages some of our mob are on, especially when they're underperforming like they have been.

Not really. Would you buy Mina, Allan, Gomes, Gbamin, Keane etc?

High earning, under-performing and often injured. If we wouldn't buy them, why would we expect anyone else to?

I remember Brands getting huge stick on here for not being able to sell players. Unfortunately the number of clubs who can afford to take players from us, given the wages they earn, is pretty small and they are all too sensible to buy our dross.

Depends on who ACTUALLY is for sale i think and at what price...

Didnt @The Bobble say Gomes was available for £8mil ?

Some of the fees mentioned over the past couple of seasons were plain silly.

We should be lowering our demands on the sale prices to generate sales.

…we have this every year, Zat, but that will always be the case when you put ordinary players on extraordinary contracts.

I think we must be asking silly fees for them as well.

If we offer the players out at cut prices then it should balance out on the wages.
