He hasn't actually done so though. A big part of the delay in signings is his unwillingness to overpay.

Mina misses large parts of every season. He's only managed 30+ appearances twice since 2016.

As for Doucoure, he played 30 league games last season (more than the year before), which is a shame really, as he's absolutely garbage.

Not completely true. Teams have less time to replace players so often charge a premium closer to deadline, which we know about all too often.

Patterson is the type of player we should have bought 3 years ago to develop and then have ready when Seamus just couldn't do it anymore. Instead we bought him now when he needs a couple of years to truly be ready and Seamus is past it.

Piss poor execution on our part.

Note - I'm not slamming Patterson, he could come good, I'm saying we bungled this like we have so many other things.
