Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

If Pedro is a player we’ve genuinely scouted, hold interest in and consider to be reasonably priced then fire away. I just really hope we’re not offering around half the Gordon money in a panic because we’ve seen that another club is paying it.

It's the fact that you need to use your recruitment to improve moving forward. If you invest in a player who is over 25 they have to really offer something different. Adams runs around and struggles to score, hence Southampton are always down near the bottom with us. We will then be lumbered with Adams on wages far beyond being commensurate with his actual ability and having spent a lot of money on him. Then it will be rinse and repeat all the time. A circle of ??.

There are players out there who allow us to grow as a club and invest smaller fees that we make back/make profit on. Signing players like Adams because we have set ourselves such low benchmarks is exactly why we have been poor for so long. In my opinion we have made a major mistake in signing McNeil, but because of his age we should be able to make back roughly what we have paid for him at some point. He also has age on his side to improve, though I think it unlikely.

Finding good players from unexpected places and not your relegation rivals is the whole point of a recruitment team.
Signing players like Adams stretches opposition defences and gets us goals and points. Plus, he might actually sign for us. It's all very well trying to buy players for the future, which I agree with, but if you get relegated in the meantime that plan goes out of the window. Adams is a reasonable age, has a decent injury record, and gives us something we don't have. I'm not saying he's a dream signing, but he represents a realistic signing.

Morning all, wee bit later today due to work commitments etc. Absolute meltdown on the forum last night which is great to see! Hang in there Bloos! It’s not like we’re going to sign Rosco, Winks and Gimore on deadline day is it?……..
Lads…..??

Everton are currently being “raided” by the Financial Fair Play rules this summer, according to Chief Daily Mail writer Martin Samuel. The journalist has written in the print edition of the newspaper [August 23, pg. 70] that it appears as though the Toffees cannot spend again during this window.

Yet, Chelsea will be in a position where they can raid Goodison Park themselves to sign Anthony Gordon if they so please, despite the claim that club can grow organically within FFP.

“Some will disapprove,” he said. “They will cite the source of Newcastle’s new-found wealth as they once did that of Manchester City. Yet, what is the alternative? Leicester, Everton.

“Clubs that are currently being raided due to the inequalities of FFP. Leicester cannot spend, it seems. Nor Everton. Yet Chelsea can raid them for Wesley Fofana or Anthony Gordon, maybe both. That’s how FFP works……

Everton boss Frank Lampard is ‘very concerned’ with the make-up of his squad and eyeing ‘significant’ changes at Goodison Park, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I know Lampard and his staff are currently very concerned about how the squad looks.

“They know something significant has to change by deadline day.”

Jones has previously told GIVEMESPORT that the final stages of the transfer window could play a crucial role over whether Lampard will have a long-term future at Everton, while he is also clashing with the hierarchy over targets

Everton are one of several clubs interested in Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga, according toTutto Mercato. The Toffees are alongside Leeds and Newcastle, as well as a host of Serie A sides in their admiration for the 23-year-old who has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte and was not in the squad for their opening day win at Southampton - he was an unused substitute for the other two games.

Everton have set their sights on signing Brighton's Leandro Trossard, according toFootball Insider. Toffees boss Frank Lampard sees the 27-year-old as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon, with the boyhood Evertonian attracting serious interest from Chelsea and two bids already worth up to £45million.

According to the Mirror: Chelsea’s reported £60m interest in Anthony Gordon may still not be enough to derail Tottenham’s interest in the 21-year-old Everton striker Despite Sky Sports trumpeting an imminent £60m from Chelsea for Gordon, Football Insider reports that Tottenham have done a lot of behind-the-scenes groundwork to bring him to the opposite side of the capital.

And

Chelsea are increasingly confident of sealing deals for Anthony Gordon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the transfer window closes. The Blues are said to be prepared to pay up to £60million to sign Gordon from Everton. Talks are continuing over a move for Aubameyang, while Chelsea are also interested in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao as they bid to bolster their frontline.

And

The Times now claim that Chelsea are confident of signing Anthony Gordon this week, offering a deal that will go beyond £50million including add-ons. Sky Sports even suggest that the deal may now be worth around £60million. Everton have stood firm so far and rejected Chelsea’s offers, the last one totalling around £45million.

This comes after Football London reported that Tottenham do still fancy signing Gordon after failing with a move earlier this summer.

Everton are considering a late loan move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja. Ben Jacobs has tweeted about this today. The report also claims that Everton hold an interest in Che Adams, but with Lampard having worked with Broja during his time at Chelsea, you’d expect a move to sign Broja to be more likely.

And

According to Inside Futbol: It has been claimed that Everton are weighing up making a move to sign Broja on loan in the final days of the transfer window. Broja wants to play regular football after spending last season on loan at Southampton but has only made two substitute appearances for Chelsea in the ongoing campaign.

Signing Amadou Onana from Lille for a fee potentially reaching €40m, Everton got the midfielder they wanted, but that hasn’t stopped them from trying to also get Idrissa Gueye. L’Equipe on Tuesday that ‘negotiations with Everton should take off again after a few days of silence’ between the two clubs.

Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, West Ham and Bournemouth all face European competition for the signing of Ben Brereton Diaz. According to Teamtalk, the English quartet of clubs are all looking to sign the Chile international this summer.

Everton are competing with three clubs for the signature of Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx, according to Voetbalkrant.com, as the youngster has gone missing from his current team’s plans. The report states that AC Milan have now joined the race to sign Vranckx, having been impressed by his breakthrough campaign last term.

Everton are one of the teams interested in signing Brentford’s star striker Ivan Toney this summer, according to the Daily Mirror. As per the latest report, the Merseyside club are competing with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to sign the former Newcastle United striker in the ongoing transfer window.

According to The Daily Mail, Everton are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo this summer. As per the report, the Toffees will need to compete with Manchester United to secure the signature of the £38m player, as the Red Devils are stepping up their pursuit of the player after struggling to sign Antony from Ajax.
Great update, thanks for the effort

Thought Romano basically announced the Newcastle Pedro deal was signed and sealed yesterday, are we doing another MGW type bid here?

Same initial 25m fee, so if genuine, guess we know exactly what finances we have available now for one signing.
It's standard issue lazy journalism.

Would have been nice to get Camara in for 10m if we suddenly have money. Him and Onana would have been beastly in the middle for us from the extremely limited times I've seen him(once).

I don't even know anyone anymore. Not going to pretend I've ever watched Ben Brereton Díaz or Maxi Gomez or Terrier.

*edit* lol nice one @GrandOldTeam, has it automatically changed from B.B.D to his full name which I couldn't spell anyways.

I must be missing something with Pedro because the Watford fans rave about him. But every time I’ve sat and watched Watford, he’s been completely anonymous and I’ve forgotten he was on the pitch
I must be missing something too mate because i am pretty sure that 3 goals in 31 appearances is not going to resolve our massive goal scoring problem.

Young with potential for the future if you have cash to spare and are going to buy someone else on top fair do's but for our immediate problem? Nah swerve, let them have him.

Brilliant player, the closest well get to Richarlison - in my opinion, of course.

But let’s be real here, if we offer £20m, Newcastle can just outbid us, and so on.

There’s lots of reasons for a player to want to play for them at the moment.

Everton is a little bit bleaker.

Very highly rated by a lot of people, but I have to agree. Every time I have watched him he's been anonymous. A lot of thr people whose football opinions I value seem to really like him though.

Interesting that we seem to be going full early 2000's Ebay bidder and are throwing in last minute bids earn it looks like it has been won by someone else.

Just an idea, and , admittedly a far fetched one when we are talking about Everton, but, what if we have deals n principal agreed with clubs and are just waiting for the Gordon deal to go through, to fund them. Be out of character for Moshiri s Everton, but, we can live in hopes.
This is a likely scenario. Transfers are like jigsaws and unless the players in question are completely surplus, everyone has to wait until all the bits are in place.

Chelsea are unlikely to let Broja go until Aubameyang is confirmed for example
