Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Problems for sure with inflated fees with Gordon proceeds, but we knew that anyway.

We have to use our one remaining domestic loan spot for sure and if that's Broja, they should be able to tie that in with negotiations for Gordon.

We should be looking to Europe if we are going to get any sort of value for money spending the cash.

This is obvious really so if they don't see that there is nothing anyone here can do.

I'm still reasonably confident we would spend the money well enough, but that seems to be within the context of likely waiting until the Gordon deal is done, and we don't have that time.

Would be curious to know if Spurs have put anything in place to share in any sell-on we do with Dele. Don't get me wrong as critical as some may have been when we signed, agreeing a try-before-you-buy deal seems to have been the right thing.

I really like Dele, when we signed I was hoping he could rediscover his good form but whether it's just unfortunate timing with our bad situation or he just needs a move away or if his position of being quite a specialised player to play just off the front man just really doesn't suit Everton right now.

Best of luck to him should he go, but honestly I would trade current-Dele for Kudus in a heartbeat.

Definitely not what I said.
But it's the logical end point from what I said originally. My point isn't that Joao Pedro should or will sign for us over Newcastle, it's that there's no harm in trying to sign him if he's a player they actually want. Just giving up and not even giving him a choice to make because we're scared of embarrassing ourselves would be ridiculous, that was the point you argued with. Where does that end if not saying that there's no point in bidding for anyone half decent because they won't want to come? It's just wallowing in self pity.

….I normally sit on the fence regarding transfers but having had a bit of an insight to Rangers in recent times, I’d be amazed & disappointed if we were in the least bit interested in Morelos.
Oh we won’t be, Thelwell and Lampard both seem to put emphasis on attitude and his is about as bad as you can get.

I normally try and keep a level head and not go all doom and gloom but my big concern is we seem to have written the first 6 games off.
Then the next 6 could be similar trying to bed everyone in (that we hopefully sign)

Think they’re being quite sensible. Adding bits and pieces of quality and looking to build gradually. FFP is a bit of a straight jacket for any ambitious teams.
I agree with that. I actually think it’s what we’re trying to do. We just had a huge amount of positions to fill.

Kudus would be a great Dele replacement, young, promising, can play AM and I believe can play wing and CF, can beat a man and create chances. Also implies we are actively looking to deploy a 3 man midfield. Loan with option to buy would be incredible business. Fingers crossed!
Good, looking forward to us binning the 5 at the back tbh.
