"This is a quality signing under the circumstances" =/= "Never criticize Everton".

You're entitled to your opinion, but popular opinion is against you because this is a legit efficient signing, given cost and the player's past results. An established, above-replacement level Prem striker is just what the doctor ordered right now, and the fact that we didn't have to break the bank to sign him is a significant bonus.
If you don’t agree and think maupay is a quality signing that’s fine. That’s your opinion that’s why message boards are a thing. I don’t agree so I’m posting it. I didn’t know that was such a horrible thing

You also aren’t dealing with the harrasing behavior on other threads and dms i am, bc apparently criticizing Maupay is a horrible offense.

Didn't expect Maupay to start or anything but he could've at least given us 20 minutes when Rondon's blowing chunks. Honestly, for all Rondon does I'd just put big Onana up front, fire it up to him and get him to make a nuisance of himself.
Doubt Rondon starts maybe a 532 with Gordon and Gray up front Rondon on for the last twenty

Bc I don’t agree with Maupay signing? Got it…

Everton has earned the blind approval on questionable signing
Awk mate come on….. I honestly don’t think it’s blind approval as a lot of fans, like your good self, won’t be happy with the level of signing and that’s fine.

Personally, I think that given the standard of the squad, the state of the club and how it is financially, this is decent business.

Personally I'd hold on Diaz until the Gordon situation is decided. If Gordon goes, invest in an impact forward, preferably one who can play on the wing. If not, we have to hope he can take a big step forward.

Gana, Kudus and possible Garner on top of who we've already brought in would be a really transformative window in terms of finally turning the team over. That'd be a lot of new faces for fairly minimal outlay. That would be nearly 10 new players, but considering a few of those are veterans like Tawkowski, Coady, Gana, I'm not worried about issues with integrating them in. Goals remain a big issue but let's see what else we've got up our sleeves. Possibly still someone from Chelsea on loan regardless of the Gordon sale.
I agree, would hang fire on Diaz (or comparable striker) for now but need to work towards a final decision on Gordon by Mon / Tues. Work on what we can get done without selling Gordon: Gana and the loans, Garner if we can afford him too. If Gordon goes it will be too late to start working on 3 or 4 fresh deals to spend the money so the best bet will be to target some / most of it at one high quality forward player.

You can attack me as much as you want. I think maupay is exactly the type of signing that got us in the position we ate in today.

You don’t agree. I don’t care. Move on

He's surely the complete opposite of that though? He's cost relatively little and has proved to be able to contribute in forward positions in this league, its quite low risk and an improvement on what we currently have.

What got us in this position is lashing stupid money at Sigurdsson, Bolasie, Klaasen, Tosun etc and overloading certain positions with garbage whilst not addressing glaring holes season after season. I don't think anyone is claiming Maupay is a world beater or that they want him leading the line for seasons to come, but he gives us an effective option in a position we need without breaking the bank.
