Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Richarlison and DCL will both be gone this summer, maybe Pickford plus some deadwood contracts are up.

Use the money from sales to strengthen plus a few loans.
You think some of our players see relegation as there only ticket out or am i being completely over dramatic and a profesional would never simply 'not put it in' as they are stuck at a consistently under performing club

Just to write again, as too many people are (very wrongly) thinking we'll have a deadwood clear-cut this summer:

We have a squad full of massively overpaid players, many of whom are still on multi-year deals. This is not an exhaustive list, but look at how long we're stuck with some of these:

2023 out of contract:
- Coleman, Rondon, Townsend, Davies, Allan, Mina, Doucouré

2024 out of contract:
- Richardson, Pickford, Alli, Gray, Gomes, Iwobi

2025 out of contract:
- Keane, Holgate, Branthwaite, DCL, Godfrey, Gordon

To sell a player, you need a club willing to buy him and the player himself willing to leave.

It will be impossible to sell the likes of Keane, Holgate, Iwobi, Gomes, Davies, etc, as nobody will pay them anywhere near what they're earning with us. They will not leave out of the goodness of their hearts and their love for Everton.

We are stuck with a vast majority of these wastes of space for many years yet, and it will severely hinder our options in the transfer market going forward.

We will be playing in the Championship paying Andre Gomes 80k a week to sit on the bench. 80k a week is approximately the wage of about 10 average players in the Championship added together.

We'll be paying Iwobi around about the same. That's a Championship squad's worth of wages on two players who won't play for us, but won't leave.

THAT'S what we've got to look forward to.

On the positive side I think those players will actually be alright in the Championship. Ideal scenario is we come straight back up at the first time of asking in 2022/23, and at the end of that season Coleman, Rondon, Townsend, Davies, Allan, Mina, Doucouré are all off the wage bill. That will give us some wriggle room for our first transfer window back in the prem. And hopefully by that time this Thelwell fella will be doing what we hired him for, i.e. bringing in younger players with sell-on value.

Every player on that 2023 list should be sold

In fact, everyone should be sold if there is a half decent offer.

Yes its Rooney. Barkley had only 6months on his deal so £15mil was decent.

We do well when selling players at the clubs asking price.

Not really tho ..:. Failing to Off load players has been a massive part of our current problem. Morgan, Williams , tuson, walcott, bolasie , sandro all were unable to be sold and left for nothing after costing hundreds of millions. Siggy , gomes, delph and probably Mina and iwobi will most likely be added to that list. Our inability to sell players is a massive problem.

Exactly. Keane is here for years to come. Where else would he go to get a contract like he is on?

The better players in the squad will no doubt move on, but for much reduced fees and the money will largely go on reducing the debt.

Simms and other youngsters will have to step up. There won’t be many new signings.

The first list, I think unfortunately Coleman stays and davies gets a new deal, as we won’t get anything for him this summer after a year out.

Rondon I’d let go pay up what we have to. Townsend the same. Hopefully we can get away without paying the whole year’s salary. Think we’d try to keep Townsend if we go down.

Doucoure I think we will give a new deal if we stay up, though I think to just be a squad player. Been poor for the majority of this season. Think we could get 10mil if we go down. Again Allan is a good player, 30 and probably still has plenty of admirers in Italy, rumours of Sarri wanting him at lazio.

And though Mina has had a lot of injuries. He’s only 27 and I think a Spanish or Italian side would take a gamble on him. Again probably for something like 10mil

The 2nd list we make money on Richarlison and gray, get our money back on Pickford. Dele will depend on staying up. Go down he leaves on a free and the club buying probably takes on the terms we had with spurs

Gomes and iwobi again we should just take what we can, Gomes on his 110k will be harder to shift, I’d even take 5mil and give it to him to subsidise his lost earnings.
Iwobi is only on 50k a week apparently. A load of teams could afford that.

The last list. We’d make money on all of them
Bar Keane. And he’s on about 65k a week and on 35k from what I’ve seen. So wages wouldn’t be a issue to all prem clubs. Again even shifting them for low fees. I know we will have to replace these players.

A lot will depend on what division we’re in

What debt? If there was such a debt why did we spend in January? also potentially buy someone else for 40mil over 2yrs. And pay full wages for van de Beek.

Simms wont be in the team in the championship . Of course a lot depends on what division we’re in. But If we sell a load of players including. DCL, Richarlison, Pickford. A hand full of fringe players. The out of contract players x 4.

We will definitely be spending some money, mainly on youngsters. Getting a Loans and maybe the odd free transfers. We’d also save probably 50mil in wages

Dream on. We are close to a points deduction as it is. The rules are tougher in the Championship.

We have been catastrophically overspending for several years. Ok if you get success, but disastrous if you don’t. We have had losses of over 100m for the past two years and are set to declare similar this year. We will have to sell a lot of players before we can spend.

I expect something similar to last summer.
