Oh no now that that the euphoria of jonjoe departing has subsided slightly the fear of think pieces emerging on his thread about how we missed out on a true talent becomes a concern

It is mad that there's £80m "worth" of players on probably £300k/w that have just left the club and yet the squad has remained the exact same quality, they don't even need replacing. Also mad to think that this is exactly the same as Pogba leaving United, down to the finances being the same and everything. They really are just the less crap but still crap version of us.

I wouldn’t take colwill on loan, unless Frank is going to play a 3 and thinks we can get away With him on the left with a bit more experience around him. If we play a 2 he would most likely be on the bench all season, don’t see the point in that. If we buy him
Then that’s different

Colwill is an interesting one. It might indicate the club don’t believe in Branthwaite (or expect to sell him) but certainly if he arrived the CB department would look very junior (Tarkowski aside) if Mina and Keane move on. There’d presumably be questions around whether the lad Welch is good enough also.

Think the hope with Colwill is that he turns out to be another Marc Guehi who Palace smartly snapped up after a loan to the Championship last year.

Colwill is believed to be Chelsea's best centre back prospect (and one of their top prospects) in the past 20+ years.

They think he's got the lot and will be Rio Ferdinand level of quality...better than the likes of Guehi at Palace.

The purpose of having both him and Branthwaite seems quite obvious really.

In a back 3 Colwill (being naturally left footed) plays on the left and Branthwaite central with someone else on the right.

imagine having two of Englands highest rated young centre backs im the squad pushing for a start.

If by some miracle we signed him them id be 90% certain of a buy back clause or something.

If we could get Colwill + Gallagher and both had release clauses then it wont be long before we make a profit on each.

….I don’t suppose we can demand a fee for Kenny because he came through the Academy & we have offered him a new deal?
Hes 25, that rule only counts for u23s i believe.
