Scary thing is at the moment the nearest thing we have to a DM is Tom Davies, as Allan gets drawn to the ball too often and leaves huge gaps behind him, plus G'bamin is made of pasta so cant rely on him.

Think you are correct Zinchenko isn't a DM, but would be excellent playing the left side of the three in Midfield, I also think he would struggle in a two though, but he is the best we have been linked with so far?

Given the Wham lists you supply we are getting linked with some woeful players
The boy looks good, the City fans love him. In a midfield 3, as more of an 8, for sure, he would improve us, but we really need some steel, they dont have to be a big strong man, just what we thought Allan was would do. Hey maybe im dreaming and he can perform better after surgery?

Maybe Gmblammo can stay fit? Maybe the boy Davies can hold it down. But if not, we, well, we need a Gana.

The majority of the teams in the league have 1, as the Big Oil says, why cant we? Why havent we?

In short ive no issue with Zinky, sorry for cringe name, but I really dislike long names. And from what ive seen, he would be a decent addition to our midfield, but not as a DM, for me anyway. Who knows, maybe Frank has other ideas.

Zinny Wobes and the youngest Thuram. Easy 11th place with that midfield.

Those Octavian Popescu links disappeared...pity.
The plan I’d suggest might be a high press as opposed to a midfield anchor 6.

Seemed to me that was the plan and approach in Franks initial games before we went on to containment and counter.

I think if we use a 3 we'd still need someone at the base.

RS have Fabinho and City have Rodri...we need someone...a solid all rounder.

….its a highly specialised position that deep sitting central midfielder. It doesn’t require lots of energy, it requires lots of discipline. Lee Carsley was brilliant at it, even in the latter stages of his career he was able to play most games.

Fellaini struggled with it because he couldn’t stay in the areas he was guarding. I remember Lee Cattermole at Sunderland saying how difficult it was not getting drawn into wider areas of the pitch. Discipline.

Gareth Barry was excellent for us and his legs were going when he came to us. However, I do remember right towards the end, there was a definite drop as I think his legs had completely gone then.

….he was fantastic although I always had it in mind that a key part of his role was watching the space vacated by Baines. What a player Barry was.

I'd have Gordon + McNeil competing on the left.

One left footer who can put in a great delivery and one right footer who can cut inside.

Two u23s who can rotate and provide options. If we sell Richarlison of course...I dont trust Gray, too selfish imo.

For me its a good move at £15mil...£20mil is the max.

Have those two on the left, sign KLP to compete with Dele in the centre and bring in a right sided attacker plus a centre forward as well.

KLP + McNeil + Johnson = £50-60mil and bring in a centre forward on loan with an option.

There should be Richarlison, Gray and Kean money to be used for rebuilding. I think we'd look decent across the front which is critical.

LF: Gordon / McNeil
AM: Dele / KLP
RF: Johnson / Dobbin
CF: DCL / Broja

A lot of potential there.

I think Levy decided not to do the deal.
Still harping on about signing Brennan Johnson i see!

Also Demari Gray offers so much more input than Dobbing who has played about 70 minutes for us.
Worst thing for his development would be for him to be kept here ss emergency back up

The links to left backs are dead weird. No way we’re spending our limited funds on one.
We definitely need cover there, but it's the reason that the Zinchenko links make so much sense - a player we would be playing in midfield that we know is capable of covering at left back and looking a natural there (unlike when we see Godfrey doing his baby rhino impression out there). I'd be really surprised to see us spend actual money on a specialist left back

You think we can afford Zinchenko at £30m? I know it’s Father’s Day but you didn’t have to start on the whiskey at 9am.

Yup I think we could afford Zinchenko, think the fee in full would be 30m but would be structured to get around FPP issues - think most of our fees will try to do that going forward (Dele was the setter for that model I think).

Would City accept 15
