Everton Summer transfers 2021

Sure but a 20 million dollar mistake is worse than a 6 million dollar mistake. Even worse, three 20 million plus mistakes, compared to five 6 million dollar mistakes. Its literally half.
A £6m mistake doesn't just cost you £6m, it costs you another £3m a year in wages as well, especially when you have a DoF who signs off on signings and then can't sell them on when they're terrible.

Under Peter Johnson we first signed:

Materazzi
Simonsen
Collins
Dacourt
Bakayoko

Its looking like the summer when we went for Sigurdsson, Rooney, Klaasen, Keane and Pickford is similar to a one hit wonder.

To see posters laughing at me for wanting ambition from a billionaire owner who says he wants us around the top of the table shows expectations arent what they should be.

We need to spend more to catch up to those already far ahead.
There’s having ambition Zat, and talking about us signing one of the most hyped youngsters in football who already plays for a champions league club.

Let’s ask if they’ll do a double deal with Haaland whilst we’re at it.

Your posts are solid, and then you mention Bellingham and I just laugh out loud every time.

I think theres three parts to what im saying...

A: We should be able to bring in Aarons and White if we push the boat out.

B: If we landed the above we may be able to attract Rice and Phillips.

C: With Bellingham he chose Dortmund due to game time. Hes said that himself and probably wouldnt move to a United, Chelsea or City as he wants game time.

Were in England, if we expanded that group of England players then we offered him a big contract and a story where he is the main man in the team -- with a buyout clause -- you never know.

You need to have ambition.

At the moment it looks like our ambition is hiring a washed up negative manager and trying to hold onto DCL.

Thats fine...but you have to try.

White
Aarons
Bellingham
Rice
Phillips

If we pushed the boat out and 'went for it' whats the worst result -- we dont get any of them.

Whats the ideal result -- we get 3.

Its just an example of what we should be doing and the amounts we should be spending if we really are aiming to fast track into top 4 or 6.

Instead, players like Nunes and Dumfries are linked and neither of those is taking us into the top 6. No chance.

It’s not Footy Manager though mate, you don’t just click bid on 5 players and let the chips fall where they may. Time spent negotiating deals that are highly unlikely to come off is time not spent negotiating deals that CAN be done to improve us.

So to elaborate on your point, the worst that can happen is we get none of those players and no other players because we’ve been chasing our tails all window.

What possible reason would Bellingham have for leaving Dortmund to join us though? We are trying to become what Dortmund are. Hes playing games and progressing.

Couple of media comments like this saying Benitez will be backed;

If Moshiri wanted to fast track into the top 4 or top 6...yet also were going for young players to grow over the long term then for me Id...

Slap the cash down for White...

We'd then have Pickford, Godfrey, White and DCL in and around the England squad. Already that creates marketing and more media exposure outside of the actual on pitch value.

Bring in Aarons who as an England u21 seems to have strong potential to be added to the above list of 4 -- id imagine hed be keen to become the 5th member of that group.

At that point we could approach Bellingham, Rice, Phillips with a 'story' which is centred around them coming into a club with 4 (perhaps soon to be 5 in Aarons) young England internationals.

White is about £50mil, Aarons £30mil so £80mil before approaching any of the midfield trio who would now cost up to that total each.

But, that really is the definition of 'fast tracking' and spending money to try and catch up to clubs who are miles ahead.

Ive just used England players as examples but the same goes for continental players -- although the England players would be more likely to hit the ground running.
We aint getting Rice.

We really needed Moshiri to rock up 20 years ago when £15 million got you Alan Shearer rather than Matt Targett.

We can’t really compete with the top 6 financially, we need to be clever. Young players on the up from lesser leagues every single time please.
