Everton Summer transfers 2021

They usually sell for big money though...

24 year old England international with 1 in 2 last season in the league...

Very hard to replace and if we want to be at the top we need to add more players like him.
That was my point mate,a third choice keeper went for 12 million I think, that kid the striker who went to sheff Utd and never scored, around 20 million, but now we have "one of them"in charge watch the dough flood in for our dross eh? ;) lol

If we don't even have any jarg, tenuous links to Everton, Weverton, or Everton Ribeiro then I don't even know who we are as a club anymore.

You don’t have to spend big you just have to spend better.
Exactly. We spent relatively 'big' a few years ago and look where we ended up because the quality of the players brought in was dreadful.

I'm not advocating spending large sums if neccessary, but it's buying the right players, for the right price at the right time.

To a point yes, but the chances of us finding players of the required quality to challenge these teams on a shoe string budget is a lot less than if we are able to pay the going rates. Look at Leicester who are just about doing it. 40 mill on Tielemans, 30 mill on Fofana a teenager, theyve spent big on Somare this window, 30 mill on Perez a back up striker. Even scouting smartly for good players like they are they’re still having to pay big fees often on prospects. The top 6 meanwhile are paying eye watering fees on established stars.

Yep. I know everyone loves a diamond in the rough, a player bought for a low fee who then turns into a world star, but there is no escaping the fact that the 6 clubs we want to try and compete with all spend huge fees on individual players.

Arsenal is currently the worst of the 6 and they have a starting forward three costing 190 million in total. Each player cost more than our record buy.

If we truly want to close the gap then we need to be buying better players and sometimes that will mean paying a big fee.

Couple of media comments like this saying Benitez will be backed;

If Moshiri wanted to fast track into the top 4 or top 6...yet also were going for young players to grow over the long term then for me Id...

Slap the cash down for White...

We'd then have Pickford, Godfrey, White and DCL in and around the England squad. Already that creates marketing and more media exposure outside of the actual on pitch value.

Bring in Aarons who as an England u21 seems to have strong potential to be added to the above list of 4 -- id imagine hed be keen to become the 5th member of that group.

At that point we could approach Bellingham, Rice, Phillips with a 'story' which is centred around them coming into a club with 4 (perhaps soon to be 5 in Aarons) young England internationals.

White is about £50mil, Aarons £30mil so £80mil before approaching any of the midfield trio who would now cost up to that total each.

But, that really is the definition of 'fast tracking' and spending money to try and catch up to clubs who are miles ahead.

Ive just used England players as examples but the same goes for continental players -- although the England players would be more likely to hit the ground running.

Can't see us outspending top 6 until Europe + stadium. A bit chicken and egg perhaps.

It's a bit of a food chain isn't it - we can only do business / compete with clubs below us financially. Anybody above us it will be their cast-offs - which worked out with Barry and Digne but just as easily gets you Delph.

I can see the logic of buying somebody like Sigurdsson at the time, just bizarre that we paid so much - through impatience and lack of alternative ideas I guess.

How much did Kante cost from France? How much did Gana cost originally? Only idiots spunk loads of money on unproven players. Ayoze Perez for £30m is exactly the point I’m making about spending better not big.

Would White and Aarons join -- Probably.

Would that give us 4 or 5 England internationals -- Yes.

Is that going to give us more media attention and marketing opportunities off pitch and improve us on pitch - Yes.

Would a Leeds and West Ham player look at that as a growing England international nucleus and want to join -- Possibly.

Could Bellingham be interested to move back to the league as a starter -- Possibly

Does Moshiri have the money -- Yes

Has he continuously said he wants us at the top of the league -- Yes

Are other clubs above us spending (or will spend) comparable amounts -- Yes.

White + Aarons and one of the three and we look like a top 6 team.

Your posts are solid, and then you mention Bellingham and I just laugh out loud every time.

Under Peter Johnson we first signed:

Materazzi
Simonsen
Collins
Dacourt
Bakayoko

Its looking like the summer when we went for Sigurdsson, Rooney, Klaasen, Keane and Pickford is similar to a one hit wonder.

To see posters laughing at me for wanting ambition from a billionaire owner who says he wants us around the top of the table shows expectations arent what they should be.

We need to spend more to catch up to those already far ahead.
