The problem with players like Willian will be high wages and probably large signing on fee as well , even if there was no transfer fee.

For a reasonable wage, a reasonable signing on fee I would have no problem with giving him a twelve month contract.
A very good player in his prime , he could still flesh out a squad and be a decent player to bring off the bench.

Signing older players is only really a problem if the transfer fee is high and the contract is long.

In fairness though the EU's court (CAS a European court) has thrown it out. Anyone who has any involvement of the EU's anti-competitive regulations around the procurement processes etc will know FFP just won't stand up in that legal framework.

There may be a question around the PL rules, as I'm not entirely sure where the highest sovereign court would be, and if it's still the European court of appeal.

That's if anybody like City or PSG has the balls, and wealth, to take on UEFA in the courts.

They should actually be pro actively telling UEFA you can't do this guys. It isn't what we're about
