Some posters in the 'Thierry Small' thread mentioning this guy could be wanting a move out of Chelsea.

The type id prefer to Dumfries if were not looking to spend much...Young, English, good profile and may have the Lamptey effect.

While I do agree with you we do need to look at players younger who can develop with us into the top player Koulibaly is.

Do we not have enough young players in defence, that seem to suffer with lack of experience and/or mistakes that have cost us ?

Koulibaly at 30 would become our oldest centre back, by some distance really. Its na are we do need leadership and experience.

Keane will be 29 in Jan mate...
Mina is 27 in sept
Digne 28 in a week
Coleman 33 in October

Seems like a lot of experience to me...

I dont think a lack of experience costs us...its a lack of quality (Keane/Coleman) and a lack of athleticism...not to mention that weve sat incredibly deep to mitigate this which means any mistakes will be obvious...

...if we played a higher line with superior and athletic players then i think our fortunes would change and we could play front foot football.

I did say Centre back, and right now Koulibaly is 2 years older than his closest age centre back.

Keane or Mina will leave I think.

That leaves Holgate, Godfrey & Branthwaite. We cant just add anouther 21 year old with those in a crucial position, we need experienced players who have done it at a higher level more regular, and lead a big club with lots of pressure.

Koulibaly ticks many boxes for us, and Rafael knows him.

He is quality but he is 30. Spending 30m plus on a 30 year old and on massive wages isn’t great long term plannning unless he has the longevity of chellini.
If the price is 30/35mil and he wants to come, then it’s a no brainer for me. Good players will always want top money. Some fans think paying 25mil for zouma, who’s nearly 27 a good deal. And zouma would want probably a 100k a week

What’s no prem
Experience have to do with it. He’s been one of the best CB’s In the world. And every player doesn’t need to have a sell on value.

Thiago is 36 and still playing, Ramos is 35 and just gone to PSG. Johnny Evans is 34. VVD has just turned 30.

Give him a 4yr deal and when that 4 seasons is up he will be 33. You’re sounding like he’s on his last legs
Evans had years in the Prem,Thiago surrounded by top class players.Ramos is on a free,VVD,who knows how he'll come back after injury. We though are linked with a player who will cost megabucks. Just waiting on Brands to bring forth one of his young inexpensive unknown talents. Oh and one of the best CDs in the World has won a Belgian and Italian Cup.

The problem is that it appears the price may be 50 rather than 30/35. At 30/35 Koulibaly is a good buy. At 50 not so much.

As someone who has seen a CB pairing of Richard Gough and Dave Watson at a combined age of 85 keep a Man Utd title winning team at bay and just witnessed an aging Chiellini and Bonucci deal with Kane, Sterling, Grealish etc, Koulibaly at aged 30 is nothing really. That said, CB would be my lowest priority. We need a couple of wide players with energy and dynamism, a right back (obvs) and an all action powerful box to box centre mid who can keep hold of the ball when necessary and not panic at the first sight of the opposition bearing down on them (Cristante for Italy seemed to fit the bill) . Anything else is a bonus.
