Everton Summer transfers 2021

It looks to me that they want a right winger for a no pounds, no pence fee.

Im not defending it, I just think it’s a consequence of £135m over the FFP limit.

Its most likely waffle.

But i would suggest we dont need budget back up mate. We need actual quality starting wide players. Bernard, Iwobi, James etc arent going to cut it, two arent up to it and the third if he stays, you arent getting more then 20 in 40 games out of.

The job of work is improving on the squad places of Bolasie and Walcott who have vacated the squad. Sadly Townsend doesn't do that, anything but. It would be just more waste really.

I would much rather sign no one and go with Gordon and Broadhead.

I agree really, the papers link lots of players and it is probably waffle.

Im pretty sure we have a bit of an FFP crunch though.

The Townsend story is there to destabilise Benitez, created and spread by people who've spat their dummies out.

It's not happening.
I think it could happen the little Brazilian winger out on mega money and a squad replacement on a quarter of his salary with no signing on fee.
I mean I don’t want it to happen but it deffo could and I wouldn’t be surprised

We've already crashed to the ceiling of PL cost and sustainability rules mate, over the last three seasons we are in breach as it is.

Its interesting to see what happens from here, will the whole ting be relaxed, an amnesty created due to Coivd, will the PL write of a few years, certainly the clubs intent gives us a sense they might know something we dont in terms of PL rules.

It sounds like 2+2=5 stuff.

If we got Bernard out there'd be no way we'd land ourselves with a dud like Townsend. Any savings will be going toward a right sided winger.

If FFP is a major issue this summer, it means one thing for me: we cant be judging Benitez by the same criteria we've judged managers since Moshiri came in 5 years ago when he allowed them major cash. We'd have to judge Benitez on the basis he's a man working with many players he doesn't particulary want. That would have to ratchet down expectations vis-a-vis where we finish in the table and how many points we rack up.

That's just fair.

I agree it should but we’ve been screaming out for RB for at least 3 years which is 6 transfer windows and here we are today with Coleman as our best right back still.

If we end up with no Coleman replacement then we know finances this summer have wrecked us.

We do as do a lot of clubs.

Just about every club is struggling at the moment. With FFP, the lack of crowds etc.

From what I've heard we are very much in sell to buy territory. Hence why we are looking at more affordable options, utilising players we already have and promoting from within.

We aren’t a tolerant or patient fan base in fact we are the polar opposite of that, add to the fact who our new manager is he will not get any leeway from the Goodison faithful regardless of FFP

Yep very fair - can you imagine the excuses from the Cult of Carlo had we barely spent anything this summer!

"Carlo Fantastico M8"

"Needs his own players"

Yet the same folk will no doubt be hounding Benitez for not turning Iwobi and Coleman into world class players.
