Then i remembered we went out and made Benitez our actual football manager.

Released. Has been pimping himself on Talksport for a few weeks.

If we had made an exciting signing or two then signing someone like Townsend as cover might make some sense but signing Townsend first would not send positive signals to the fanbase. However, as somebody pointed out earlier we should look at the signing of Delph and learn there is a reason these players are available for free... over the hill or injury prone or both

I doubt there is any truth in this as every year we are linked with so many players , so many we wouldn't want and so many we couldn't get.

But, it's a beautiful Sunday, so I'm enjoying a positive mental attitude. Shelvey, Townsend and Delph in midfield would bring us success.

I thought I read something about Townsend saying on talksport he was training with a team this week with a take it or leave it deal on the table which was there until the end of the week. Strange if he has already made his mind up.

Delph I sort of understand . He WAS a decent squad player in a superb squad.
Townsend hasn't done anything in recent history. Hopefully this is just agent or RS talk .

So because some random twitter account which isn't verified and has about 9 followers says we are signing Townsend means we are struggling with FFP, are skint and are in trouble?

As a squad player I don’t have a problem with townsend. If, however, he’s our first choice answer to one of the most glaring problems in the swuad then we may as well accept our 8-12th trophy now

Same here, we have let a fair few go and Townsend would fill a gap in the squad. But regular starter I wouldn’t be to happy about unless he shows us form from a few years back. All signings can’t be marquee signings.
