Best course of action is to say nothing and let things take their course.My previous firm did a case for a local celebrity who had an allegation made against him on social media by a Twitter user who was attempting to remain anonymous - long story short the allegation was unfounded and the Twitter user traced. Said user agreed to pay a six figure settlement in damages. There was also the recent case of that celebrity doctor who said former NI first minister was having an affair (she wasn’t) doc had to pay up.
these sorts of cases are on the rise as well as subsequent criminal charges after the civil case for a whole variety of offences.
