Everton Summer transfers 2021

I do wonder if we're waiting to sell someone before we sign anybody for real money. I'm convinced we're stony broke.
I think it’s FFP and/or PL accounting rules. We need to generate revenue from player sales to allow us to spend. Semantics really, despite having a wealthy backer we can’t spend so we may as well be stony broke lol

Maybe our wealthy owners have said that's your lot until the stadium is built? It's all looking a bit Randy Lerner.

I don't think we are broke as such, it's the FFP/wages thing that is killing us, I mean the last few seasons we have just been red lining the limit each year. If we ARE actually broke then Moshiri is clearly not a very good accountant and Brands is clearly not very good at managing budgets (something we were led to believe he was good at) and we are in a bad, bad way and I have no idea what the answer is tbh.

Think we might get a good idea of who’s going out when we see who’s travelling tomorrow.
Apart from Rodriguez of course who’s probably only still here because of this tournament.

We won the league once after signing players from Liverpool reserves (Sheedy / Harper). We also signed Ian Wilson, Terry Curran etc all what would be classed as “meh” signings these days.

now I’m not saying we are going to win the league, of course not that would be mental.
However, the point is that not every player has to be a marquee signing.
Ask Marc Albrighton, Danny Simpson and Wes Morgan and James Milner.
TBF they were young players that couldn't get into a team that were regularly winning the European cup. Sheedy in particular was pure class.

I don't even remember Ian Wilson

I've come around to the idea of Townsend as a squad filler. If we were to get McNeil in and Townsend as backup then I think that's good business. If we get more wingers than that then surely Richarlison is leaving?

No Richey will give us another season, no doubt an agreement in place allowing him to go to the olympics

We wouldn’t sell so close to the end of the window

I suspect that’s the case but if a mega offer came it at the end of the window….. well it wouldn’t be the first time the club sold a star player on deadline day lol

Is this not maybe a similar situation to Arsenal when they were moving stadiums? They were pretty skint while it was built and for a bit after? Ploughing it all into that maybe?

I did read it. It says we "could" have that front 4, but equally we could have a very different front 4 as well. If Townsend and Gray are starting most weeks then I don't see us doing very well.
Yeah he "could" have said:

Everton could have a front four next season (in 4-2-3-1 formation) of Richarlison, Iwobi, McNeil, Kean - Cost in transfers of £131m

Or under Walsh - Bolasie, Klaasen, Walcott, Tosun - Cost in transfers of £100m

That is what Brands does. He wants to make us the English QPR.

Not exactly making the same point though is it?

Possibly mate, as we know Football finances are a very complex thing, as far as I'm aware we are still looking for stadium funding so I don't think the two crossover into each other, they might though. Someone on here mentioned a scenario (which to me makes sense) the other day. Usmanov seemed to be quite influential in the selection of Benitez according to some reports and it was suggested the other day that he has maybe said to Moshiri 'Look, I will give you your stadium but from now on we are going to do things my way' which I could understand as Moshiri has made a bit of pigs ear of things so far tbh.
