You know, while I don't think we're properly skint, I do think we're up S*** creek in other ways than just FFP.
And that is probably COVID-related more than anything else.
I went into the summer thinking we might just have about £30m + sales to spend in fees.
I think we have £10-15m tops, now.

Lots of mixed reports - echo saying we will look at buying young players, although I note Hunter did mention in his season preview that we have FFP concerns. Wait and see I guess.
I guess we were expecting to offload Kean to allow us to spend a bit and that hasn’t materialised yet.

Messi mostly done into Paris it seems, That likely ends any possibility of them buying Kean. Think our whole spend theory revolved around selling him. Unless Inter buys him with the Lukaku money don’t see him going. Course if they do decide to spend they are probably more likely to buy Dumfries.
Nobody wants to pay James wages. Clearing those was likely our other path to unlock a bit of spending ability.
Nobody wants our rotten deadwood (Tosun, Delph, Gomes, Kenny and Iwobi) And Voldemort’s situation is unlikely to be settled anytime soon.
Barring a loan or two may may well be forced to go with what we have.
I guess the glass half full view is it prevents us on wasting money on players for a manager who may not last very long. Plus of course the fact that James and Kean are good players.

It's so frustrating that we are linked with someone for months (bailey) and Aston villa come along only been linked for 2 weeks tops and he's a villa player. We've spent silly money on silly players like iwobi and we literally have nothing to show for it. We have no players with a massive sell on value and if we do get some money in we spunk it on mediocre premier League players. I'd love us to sign that Todd cantwell from Norwich me I think he's a player

I think you're right, and it will let us see how good a coach Benitez claims he is, although his apparent willingness to bin James is very concerning. He talked up the squuaaaaad in his first interview - he might be stuck with them!
The RB situation is laughable, and is something that brands has failed spectacularly at since he's been here. Coleman sadly isn't the player he was and Kenny is just...... Kenny.
Happy with Kean as backup to DCL if he stays - would like to see them as a two.
Midfield is where we could have issues (same as every year) although I think siggurdson has done Benitez a favour by not being available for selection - I genuinely believe we're a better team without the fraud.
