Everton Summer transfers 2021

At this moment in time would you be gutted if you heard a sensible offer had been made for anyone in our squad?Godfrey apart from me,sad inditement of our squad I'm afraid.

….it’s an interesting point. I suggest our most valuable assets are Richarlison & DCL (the ones we’d get most for). Given the status of this squad I think it’s very important we keep hold of them for now because those two give us a chance in games, they’d be very difficult to replace.

We do have far too many players who have come in for big money and are on big bucks that we can’t shift because they have failed to contribute. That’s the key issue.

Big money players have to produce & far too many of ours haven’t. Perhaps we could list those players to determine accountability but I think all managers & DoFs under Moshiri’s regime have been culpable.

I think he'll push for a move. His problem is the Spanish and Italian clubs are totally broke, City and United don't need him, Arsenal can't afford him, and he's not the type of players Spurs will need to replace Kane.

Just to add from the Richarlison thread.

If we had space in the wage budget then it would be an ideal time to approach Barca now theyve lost Messi.

Id suggest a straight swap with us taking multiple players from them such as:

Right back: Emerson/Dest
Centre back: Araujo
Centre mid: Moriba

and perhaps one other young wide attacker.

We could overvalue Richarlison so we benefit hugely from FFP and also Barca benefit from saving all those wages.

Their fans get a shiny new star as well.

Every player has his price - but the real indictment of our current squad is that there really isn't a single player that I'd lament the loss of if the money was remotely right. It's been like this for years. I didn't want us to lose Rooney in 2004, Lescott in his time, or Lukaku when he went. But other than those, I've never really felt emotionally involved in any of our departures. I just don't identify with any of them. They've all pretty much underwhelmed.

So, I've a pretty emotionless attitude to our squad reconstruction. Right now we've done nothing of note to support the new manager, so I'm not really sure what fans are expecting from this season. What I do know is that last season's squad will achieve little to nothing. We need to start ripping things up quickly if we are going to have any kind of respectable season. We've lost our manager, brought in a controversial replacement, given him 1.5m, had an unmentionable key player suspended for allegedly unspeakable deeds, and sent our most marketable asset all over the world this summer guaranteeing his unavailability/exhaustion for our league programme. What exactly are we expecting to achieve this season?

Still, at least Marcel Brands looks good in skinny jeans.

….at least they’d all be able to share Moshiri’s jet for the flight over.

@Eggs the thing is, if Richarlison doesnt want to extend and were unable to spend money -- by doing some imaginative deal with a club like Barca we could solve the FFP issues in one go.

They dont have cash to spend and we need multiple positions filled...

Young, high potential RB + CB + CM coming in for Richarlison may help us more than just a transfer fee.

…sorry, Zat, I don’t mean to be condescending but you produce lists of players and assume transfers are easy. These are multi-million pound deals, imagine trying to swap one player for four.

Individuals have got to want to leave their parent club, the parent club have got to be happy to sell, individual fees have to be agreed between clubs (% of the fee goes to each player) & that’s before you deal with 5 sets of agents all on ego trip for their client. We don’t see many swap deals for a reason.

Totally agree with the difficulty of doing deals like these.

The players i highlighted, two right backs (one wont be a starter for them), a centre back (linked with us before) and a centre midfielder (who had refused to sign a contract) seem to be players we need and we need to use some imagination in our dealings -- as do Barca.

As of yet, they are new players who replaced non-players for 100k per week + less money, not deadwood
This is not true. There is no way Townsend, Begovic and Gray are on £100K or less between them. Townsend alone was on £60K a week at CP and left on a Bosman, he didn't join Everton on less money. I would wager we are looking at £150K a week for those three, which is less than Bernard, Bolasie, Besic, Olsen and Walcott but not as much less as you stated and there are two fewer players.

Bernard, Bolasie and Walcott were near or above 100k each. Those three alone, bare minimum, were costing us 250k a week.
