Everton Summer transfers 2021

He's not better than Walcott, and Walcott was mince, because at least Walcott could still run. We haven't signed any other RWs yet (despite your assurances) so one of Townsend or Iwobi will start on the right against Southampton. He won't be a bench player for the start of the season, he'll be a first 11 player. It's increasingly looking like that will be the case for the season.

You love a hypothetical, so here's one for you. If JJK, Coleman, Iwobi and Townsend are our right side options for this season, where do you think we will finish and will you be happy with our transfer business?
Disgrace if that’s our options come September the 1st. And Benitez will no on a hiding to nothing

Apparently Spurs have bid 60mil for the other inter Milan striker. Empty stadium for 18months, No champions league for 2yrs borrowed 200mil in the middle of covid. Yet can spend 110mil in a week, while we haven’t got a pot to piss. Unless kane is definitely going
Kane's definitely going.

….players you say we need but I doubt the club will agree.

Coleman has just signed a new deal, there’s no chance we’ll be bringing in two RBs. We’re stacked with CBs, doubt we’ll be looking at another unless we can offload.

its fine being imaginative, but we also have to be pragmatic.

I put in brackets that only one of those two right backs would start for Barca: Emerson or Dest -- we may be able to bring one of them in.

Clearly we wouldnt bring in a CB without selling one (or two) first. Again, that would free up some money if we managed to sell one or two of them.

To be pragmatic, you sell a CB or two and promote Branthwaite -- needing only one incoming player to partner Godfrey.

On the topic of pragmatism, we have Richarlison, James, Gordon and Iwobi as wide players...weve now added Gray and Townsend.

Its not pragmatic to have 6 wide players in the squad, nor is it logical to bring two squad players in for £100k wages if were concerned about FFP. Losing say, James and Gordon would make us far weaker.

If our main concern is FFP, and not actual, real money then Barca did the same thing with Arthur and Pjanic with Juventus. A swap deal with largely inflated fees of (from memory) £75mil and £55mil.

With Richalison, we probably have a value of £80-100mil for him and so a direct swap for someone with no money changing hands could be difficult -- which is why we would need to include multiple players in return.

The concern i would have is that (like Mina this summer) in a years time he will be down to 2 years on his deal and his value will decrease -- if he doesnt want to extend. If no one is able to pay the fee we want then we would need to search for imaginative ways to do business.

Unless someone has a better idea of how we get around FFP while also bringing in 3 quality players...

Lautaro Martinez, quality player and was linked with us a few months ago.

How quickly things change.

A problem for us is that we hold on to our players too long. Digne is 28 and realistically we probably could have gotten £50 million from a City/Chelsea for him over the years and allowed us to bring in 3-4 good players in terms of FFP.

Same way if a big offer comes in for Richarlison or DCL next summer sadly we have to sell and reinvest in 3-4 good players for the starting 11 and wipe the books clean.

Leicester have done this perfectly over the years and probably will with Maddison.

£100mill loses.

Can still spend £200mill on 2 players.

All's fair in football and money

I'm not into the financial side of the footy mate but doesn't how much you can spend work on how much revenue you bring in? I'm sure I read that Man City bring in way over £500m, our's is probably peanuts compared to that.

So what are we thinking will happen?

Rondon, an experienced RB on loan and a deadline day move for McNeil?

Delph, Kean and James out?
