Everton Summer transfers 2021

Unfortunately those clubs are all building a good squad whilst we stand still and have gaping holes in our squad for years on end. Wouldnt surprise me if we fall below Villa this season with West Ham, Leicester, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea all finishing above us. Then we gotta be watching out for the likes of Leeds who pipped us last season.

8th to 12th is my prediction, perfectly mid table mediocrity that the club are building.

I may have said this once or twice before but this club is damned, we arent allowed to be successful, we are just not allowed. Now all the money has caused us to be in an absolute mess which will hamstring this club for years. Its gonna be another long journey, maybe decades before we are back with even any shout of top 4.

Forever in the shadows of our near neighbours, just gotta face it, this is as good as it ever gets for us......

mate without falling out, STOP mentioning them who gives a f. i would rather die a honorable evertonian then think oh we’re in they’re shadow

WHO CARES - we are everton fans for a reason we ain’t like them

Its a sin on GOT to point out that other clubs are well run - but if you don't look at your competitors who are overachieving and analyse how they got to that position how do you ever improve and move forward? I do Martial arts as a past time and if you don't do that you'll never get to where you want to be in terms of rank.

I think thats a problem of ours as a club not just a fanbase - clubs like Leicester are doing things the right way - Moshiri should be analysing and looking to replicate that model here - clubs in Europe do that all the time.

Another lie

I know they didn't, obviously, but the point is it's not really about fees paid when you come to assessing how successful a window is.

We spent about £110-115m in the 2019 window. If you just look at the fees then it'd be 'ooooh, that one was good', but it wasn't cause we spent it pretty much all on dross or players who haven't worked out yet (and the only hope for any of the players that we've signed that window when it comes to having a future at Everton is Gbamin, who's made 3 competitive apps in two years).

I’m guessing all those freebies for PSG cost them north of £100m in signing on fees.

Tosun started well at Everton, but deteriorated as the team got worse. Walcott was a good pro, a little bit past his best when we got him, but did well enough apart from his finishing. He was our best out ball after DCL, and when he wasn't playing DCL found himself drifting to the wing to recieve from Pickford or whoever.
I think Walcott was well past his best when we signed but certainly was a good professional , however we eventually sent him out on loan just to save his wages and that doesn't reflect well on his purchase.

Tosun was a poor buy. A player with a good attitude and a good professional. However not a premiership player and certainly not a twenty million plus player.

Ultimately it is 60m down the tubes for relatively little return.

That window wasn't a million miles away from as bad as what came during the Walsh era

Delph - £8m
Gomes - £22m
Gbamin - £25m
Kean - £27m
Iwobi - £28m

I think you can forgive the Gomes signing - he had been good on loan here, there weren't too many dissenting voices about signing him, ok it hasn't worked out but I can imagine the fume if we had let him go somewhere else. Gbamin the jury is still out on, we can't hold injuries against Brands and co with that one. Kean - seemed to make sense at the time, but if we were placing faith in DCL then with hindsight I'm not sure what the thought process was on this one. We'll hopefully make our money back though, so for now it might not turn out totally disastrous. Delph and Iwobi though - hard to justify either of them. Not sure Delph was required at all and Iwobi made very little sense given we had spent the summer chasing left-footed wingers like Pepe, Malcom and David Neres.

That's about £110m in transfer fees plus about £350k-ish per week we lashed on those. We've been dealing with the fallout from the Walsh/Koeman era for a while, but that summer has been almost as bad and you could probably point fingers at it for our situation this summer.
