These are real people, it's not football manager. Dumfries clearly doesn't want to play for us. It's not that hard to understand.
 

Looking at this Buta lad for right back

Isn't this our transfer strategy, supposedly buy low and sell high for players of the right age?

Dumfries the ship has sailed and Max Aarons is out of our range, although I believe there are more right backs in the world than 5 (2 we have and 3 we have inquired about). He might be worth a shout, although in a pub league he looks like he has the basics to defend on the floor, although I don't believe he headed the ball in the video and has good vision going forward.

4 million structured deal, with a million down payment, rest over the contract period with worth the risk, plus he is already better than Kenny

lol as if we have a 'strategy'

Missing out on first-choice targets happens, I think everyone knows that. But we've missed out on our right-back one (going into the summer after Aarons proved too expensive) if he goes to Inter (as looks likely) because we couldn't scrape together £14m (€15m Euros which is what PSV supposedly want).

That's annoying. Like with Bailey, it's annoying. But not cause we didn't get them as such - that happens to every club - but because of the reasons why.

There's no excusing being in such a dire financial position. There just isn't. COVID, everything included, that isn't on the club, I get that, but we are right up the creek and on the edge and it's not on so far into this DoF's tenure and Moshiri's time here.

It's on us, and we're paying for it, but it can't really be painted as a positive.

Now, let's hope the 2nd or 3rd targets on the list work out, as long as we have those targets. It is what it is but it's very frustrating to see good players who we have tracked extensively go for relatively little and yet we can't get near it.

I wouldn't be so sure we have other targets for right back. If we were organised we would have had one 3 years ago.

I won't believe that we have the situation sorted until we sign someone.

you would hope so. He’s on a lot of money. He’s in the last year of his contract so at £45m I’m not sure what the book value on him would be. Have never sat down and worked out how it all works. Shocking to think of what we’re spending money on atm
