good morning all, it’s Thursday the 12th of August and here’s this mornings dubious and depressing transfer round up……

German media outlet Bild is reporting that three Premier League clubs are interested in the ‘Gladbach star’s signature in the current transfer window. The same article states that Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham are in pursuit of the 24-year-old as the English clubs look to improve their midfield options.

Inter Milan are interested in signing Everton's 21-year-old Italy striker Moise Kean, who spent last season on loan at PSG. (Sky Sports)

AC Milan are set to turn their attention away from James Rodriguez, despite previously showing an interest in the Colombian midfielder. Milan were considered a potential destination, but are now "cooling" their interest. That's according to Tuttosport, who claim that Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech has emerged as another option.

Everton appear to be losing the race to sign Denzel Dumfries this summer. Inter Milan are currently leading the way, having opened talks. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Dumfries is a "priority" for Inter, who sold Achraf Hakimi to PSG earlier in the transfer window.

Everton are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks this summer. According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano:

"I'm told that Everton have an interest in him, but I’m also told that he is really happy at Spurs. But he can be a player with a lot potential, and he still wants to show his skills at Tottenham," said Romano.

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is understood to be available for transfer and has been linked with a return to Benfica.

It would be difficult for Everton’s Andre Gomes to make a transfer back to the Portuguese League this summer. That’s the belief of David Novo, executive editor of Portugal’s number one sports daily Record after the Blues midfielder was linked with a move to his former club Benfica.

I think this "computerised database of players" which Benitez talked about must have a major glitch.

Yes, I knew it had a glitch when Benitez did a search for the perfect player - he typed in all the characteristics that he was looking for, two footed, quick, skilful etc.

And then in Usual Suspects style the computer slowly printed out a drawing of Andros Townsend.

Cheap, quick, premier league and european experience 25 or younger = Demarai Gray

This is the reason we can't sign anyone.

Average wage of around £5m a year and only two have been sold for a profit.

If you can't spend a lot then you have to spend smart

That might mean we don't see any marquee names signed, but so long as the signings that are made improve the team then we should focus on that
I wish the two weren't exclusive from each other. Would like to have money and spend smart.
