Everton Summer transfers 2021

Yeah it’s not a case of saying get rid, I’m more saying I’m not sure the decision will be ours to make. Realistically there will be very few clubs willing to do a deal for Mina with the sort of fee and wages involved. It’s not that he’s not good, but very few teams pay £25m+ and £100k+ a week for centre halves. I can’t imagine that many of the ones that do will have yerry Mina at the top of their list.

Well it will be to offer a new contract to or not though.

I think there's a fair few teams that would pay £20m or so (I don't think we'd make profit or break even on the fee we paid). Wages the issue, yeah.

Personally I think they'll sign him on to a 2-year extension because I think Carlo likes our CB options. It's the one position we're well set in.

Same thing honestly
There's more to his game than a shot though I didn't say that was the main reason to buy him either just one of his good attributes and when you see the lack of quality from long range in our squad what's wrong with that? Jesus, let's just stick to Iwobi at ten shall we he will assist nobody and score zero long range shots instead?

Max Aarons will improve us as a team, works hard, young enough to mould into a very good player. I don't see the downside.

Downside is the cost, especially with Norwich probably coming up.

It's not a position we can afford to wait on this summer. The deal has to be done, and quickly.

Dumfries would still be my choice, though would be lying if I'd said I'd seen much of him this season. Not seen much of Aarons either, though.

The shot thing is a bonus, he needs to do the midfield job first imo.

Problem is that most teams will see us and think, right we can fleece these as they are desperate for a RB. I don't know much about Dumfries so can't comment really, is he the one from PSV? Aarons I think will improve us and has a high ceiling especially under the management of Carlo

He wouldn't be my first choice I like Kessie or a powerful creative force that can drive us forward. But Prowse is better than Gomes, Bernard and Iwobi at dictating games/getting around the pitch and chipping in with assists and goals.

We pay Brands a lot of money to get those deals done and, generally, he does a good job, but this is why he needs to be acting now. It needs to be getting the legwork done now so in the summer it's about moving quickly and decisively and if we can't get them, move onto the next target.

I think Aarons is going to be minimum £30m if Norwich get promoted.

Dumfries is the one from PSV, yep. International and Champions League experience, tall for a FB, quick and good on the ball.

Would definitely not be £30m, probably could get him for half of that or £20m tops.

James Ward-Prowse stats the last five/six seasons. I'd take this over Gomes or Iwobi.

Wages and fees have to be taken as one in cases like this. Teams might pay £20m for him, teams might pay him £100k a week, but not many will do both. That's the key, same as it is for the deadwood. We could sell Tosun for £15m if he was on £30k a week, but he's not, so we can't. I'm not sure we'll be so quick to offer him a new deal to be honest, he's had injury issues which should (for a normal club) make them wary of making a longer term commitment, and I can't see us being willing to offer anything like what he's on currently. I wouldn't be surprised if there's no contract forthcoming at this point and he just stays for another year and then reassess.

I wouldn't use those as your standard.

He's got 1 goal and no assists from open play. Our set pieces are fine. We need guys who can get the job done in the general course of the game.

I also wouldn't necessarily prioritize final third production for his position but the things I would prioritize he isn't great at I don't think. He'd not even be on my list.

Kessie is fine. Think we can find more economical options.

He does need to get them done quick yes, there is a lot of talk about Aarons ongoing already so I'd hazard a guess the legwork has started and he has identified the main issue in the squad.

I'm not adverse to signing Dumfries if he is identified as being good enough, I just can't comment as I've not watched him, I trust your judgement and hope we can find an actual decent replacement like we did with Digne

I'm not a scout so I don't know the cheaper options in France or Italy we could find but sure. Ultimately it's attributes we need ideally we need two different types of midfielder this window powerful box to box and creativity and cutting edge. We will probably be only be able to afford one depending on departures. I think Doucoure could do the box to box role if we had more strength and defensive ability behind him.

fair enough, but logic dictates we have to make a decision before he gets to 1.5 years left.

So we may end up just waiting that extra year and seeing what we can get for him with a year left, but, y'know, that's a risk.
