On the eve of the first game of the season, here’s Friday the 13th of August’s transfer round up……

Everton have been backed to re-sign midfielder Ross Barkley by Michael Ball. Ball believes Everton should make a move if that is the case, telling the Transfer Tavern: “ We need a player who is quick, skilful and can move us forward.

Reported Everton transfer target Jorge Sanchez is 'dreaming' of a move to Europe this summer. Everton are one of the teams believed to be in the running for the right-back, who has set his sights on a transfer move. "Of course, it is my dream to go to Europe,” he told Aguilas Monumental.

Everton are said to be interested in Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba. The 27-year-old only made 13 Premier League appearances last season for Dean Smith's side and struggled for game time. According to The Telegraph, Watford and Crystal Palace are two other sides monitoring the play

Reports in Italy claim that Everton have joined the hunt for Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne. According to Rai Sport’s Ciro Venerato on Radio Kiss Kiss, via Inside Futbol, Everton have joined the hunt for the forward who is also being linked with a host of clubs across Europe.

West Ham United and Everton are reportedly interested in signing Wolves’ 20-year-old defensive midfielder Owen Otasowie. Belgian publication Voetbalkrant are suggesting that West Ham United and Everton are also keeping tabs on Owen and that they could make life difficult for Club Brugge.

Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a return to Liverpool from Barcelona, the club he left Merseyside to join for £142m in January 2018. Everton, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester City have all been recently linked with the 29-year-old. (Liverpool Echo)

James Rodriguez has revealed that he does not expect to feature for Everton against Southampton this weekend. "There is a game on Saturday then, but I don't know, I don't think I'll play,” Spanish publication AS quote him as saying on Twitch. “Anything can happen here at the end of the month, football always changes fast."

and finally in-house ITK…..

We are trying to get rid of all of them. (Iwobi, Delph and Gomes)

The issue is Kean has apparently had a bust up and has shown really bad attitude and James has 1 foot out the door. @Theoneandonly

At least let me see the deadwood delph Etc moved on. At least let me see that this summer. Watching the likes of iwobi again next season will make it very hard.
Given where the losses where, the financial situation will probably still impact us next summer unless we can actually make some sales.

We really need to reduce the wage bill as well.

In a way, this financial crunch will force a different approach to transfers on the club. We will have to get smarter. We have no option.

Our record with big money purchases is miserable. The question is, can we find the bargain players? Can we get lower price deals over the line?

YAWN @Theoneandonly crystal ball again ?

Everton FC - No Plan, No Idea, No Hope!

We could pretty much guarantee that there would be no SIGNIFICANT incomings by the 1st game of the season, many on here have alluded to that including myself which shows how predictable this club has become.

I think it is criminal to have James and Kean training alone, IF that is true, even if they are about to leave. They still have some value in these early games, much more than Delph, Iwobi, Kenny, Siggurdsson & Tosun (Obv Injured) perhaps the 5 I just listed should be made to train alone to get them gone. The trouble is no one wants them, we should be offering them out as free transfers if we cant get a fee, at least we will save on wages!

Cant see any incomings till deadline day and then they will be the panic Iwobi types...... Unless we get some players in that will increase the quality of this squad I can see us going backwards this season. Especially if Gray and Townsend are the types of players we have replacing Kean and James!
