We do need to play a system that allows that though if that's the plan. It has to be three in midfield.
That was 1985!….I don’t think it does. Reid/Bracewell was a two in midfield with very productive wing players and attackers. It’s a system that works.
If you wait long enough everything comes full circleThat was 1985!
Inzaghi was his previous manager at Lazio I think. If this is true then he can go F himself.
I think the advances in football in modern times mean we probably won't be seeing too much 80s style again but who knows you watch Barnsley and it isn't far off. That's a team living on data and numbers too.If you wait long enough everything comes full circle

They're too of the 5 or 6 worst sides in the league. It's not that it can't work a little it's that it is hard to get it working at an elite level. Only really Atletico have even come close since Sir Alex realized Pep would tear them limb from limb if he tried 4-4-2 in those finals they lost.Burnley play 4-4-2 so do Southampton, it’s on its way back

Madrid have played it a lot as well. But for the better teams 442 is just an organised defence, with the two centre forwards either pressing the centre halves in more aggressive formations or the centre midfielders in more defensive.Burnley play 4-4-2 so do Southampton, it’s on its way back
