Definitely, if they are all not good enough then scouting, coaching etc.. of the youth set up needs overhauling. That would mean binning off some of the "boys" though so it won't happen. One thing Ise will say is that, locally at least, we do have a lot of competition. Only London has a similar density of professional clubs that the NW has but even allowing for that you would expect some youth products making it through to the first team squad.

Get the competition thing, but look at the NE. Newcastle have a long tradition of attracting players in a way that Sunderland dont. God knows why, and its similar here.

….but surely our aim is to get to the next level. Why pay £30m on a winger who doesn’t score many goals when you can get a winger who scores goals for that amount?

United, City, the Reds are where they are because they get goals from wide areas. When we’ve been good we’ve scored goals from wings, it’s not rocket science to suggest it’s a model that works.

£30 million doesn't get you a 15+ goal a season wide player mate.

Richarlison was £40-50 million over 3 season's ago, players like Zaha were touted at over £65 million, Arsenal paid £70+ million for Pepe.

Nobody wants any of our players available it seems unless that changes we won't be spending much..

….Mahrez cost Leicester less than £500k, the Reds only paid £36m for Salah. It’s a big old world out there.

I hope there's a couple of more incomings because as it stands we bought 4 players ( 50 percent of them are old goalkeepers ) and not one of them is a right back .
I really thought that position would be the biggest priority .

Agreed and the worrying thing is they are talking of another short term player, so the right back can gets kicked down the road another year....

Im living in reality of EFC and if its a choice of Townsend/Iwobi/Gray out wide all season then give me McNeil any day of the week to bolster the squad.

Be interesting to see all the team's 2nd and 3rd highest transfers... Pretty sure we paid 45m for sig, but he's nowhere near 8th on the all time list.

That was when I first heard of him.

I just dont follow football outside of England much. And that isnt that closely.
