Not really. Whatever your personal opinion of Benitez, there's no denying he's spent his career fighting with clubs owners over more money to buy players. The notion that he came here knowing he would be working on a shoestring wouldn't have entered people's heads.

Yes we knew we were carrying previous losses but I'm sure most of us believed that covid would put FFP on the back burner or we'd found some way around it.

I'm not saying that anybody expected us to be spending hundreds of millions, but most thought we'd be spending similar to last season and would be able to boost this with sales. Remember we have got a lot of wages off our books over the last couple of seasons.

What I will concede is that anybody who STILL thinks we have money to spend may be slightly deluded

Agree based on our recruitment in recent years. Sign the right players with potential to replace him then things could be different but i don’t have much faith the club would do that.

It's quite clear that in the last few windows, Brands has bought and then assumed we could shift players.

Bernard, Kean, Tosun, Walcott, Bolasie, Besic, Kenny, Sandro etc were all expected to be sold for fees. Not Brands fault that we are a graveyard for players.

Our completely awful player sales has been masked by big sales like Stones, Lukaku, Barkley and Gueye which had nothing to do with Brands

I want Brands job. Getting millions and not even blamed if you are s..t at doing your job!

yes would not be surprised if we are stuck with either Kean/James/Kenny so as a result wont bring in a striker/attacking mid/right back. Still clinging onto some hope as all 3 have to leave i feel.
Richarlison might change the complete picture.

I would prefer to sell Keane and or Kean.
