Everton Summer transfers 2021

I get what you’re saying about more important positions. But koulibaly would be a huge but for us. We still have looked soft at times this season in the heart of our defence
But we’ve looked non existent on the right, we’re overwhelmed frequently in midfield and we are not scoring enough.

We need a squad.

We don't need to be tied to one way of playing, as long as we have good enough players to give us different options.

That's why we need a winger/wide forward. We needed one last summer. We need players who can stretch teams. We need players who can make an impact from the bench.

Surely that's what this season has shown up?

We've had one sub score a league goal this season - one! And that was Gylfi's pen at Anfield.

Think we've only had 2 subs who have even set up a goal - Iwobi and Gylfi. It's properly dismal.

No, it has. I just wonder how easy it is to deliver this in the summer (good wide player/s) and then keep them happy over the season.

DCL and Richarlison are near ever-presents and we'll hopefully be playing a 10 for 2/3 of the season in James, plus the games Sigurdsson would play.

I just think that's a hard sell to a winger. "We've (v. possibly) got no Europe, we're probably always going to play a 2 up top and James is starting every game he's fit for. Fancy signing for Everton, lad?"

The solution to this problem is not playing a 2, which is the same grim sell, just you're making it to Richarlison rather than the new signing.

The fact we have 2 undroppable 9s and an undroppable 10 is at the root of everything I see being problematic/interesting this summer. Not saying it will actually be a problem, or that we shouldn't buy wingers, I just find it interesting.

We have too many holes and not enough money to drop 40m notes on somebody, IMO, time will tell and sales will as always drive ins, but for now, I think its not happening.
60-80M From Moshiri
Maybe 40m for Kean
20-30 from other sales ,it may happen
We need RB, ACM for definite to play the diamond
If a top quality CB (not Koubailly ) or GK became available to us for 40m or another top quality ACM I think we may go 40-50 m but it would have to be the right player at the right age

Minus the massive sums we have lost due to Covid so far.

Sell one the 9s maybe for big money ???

If FPP allows, Moshiri and his buddy will cover that loss
A lot of clubs seriously in trouble due to Covid
UEFA will want those that can spend to spend in the hope it drip feeds down through the game
I read the weekend that without financial support up to 40 league clubs will not be able to start next season
French football has taken a hammering financially as has Italian and Portuguese football
If the FPP reins are taken off I think Moshiri and Usmanov would see it as a rare opportunity to splash the cash with Carlo overseeing things

Its not a rare opportunity, Mosh has splashed the cash every summer hes been here.

And hes already propped up our covid losses, which is why unlike a lot of clubs we wont be forced to sell players we don't want too.

Part of why I don't think we spend 40m on 1 player is the possibly discounts available.

But top players will still want top clubs.

he has splashed the cash within the confines of FPP
With a good few contracts off the books this summer ,they may decide to back Carlo to the hilt in a real go for top 4 if FPP is suspended

IF THE top clubs don't buy the top players then maybe the top player will go for the top wages and the top manager
Agreed there will be fire sales and a lot of bargains this summer ,that's why Koubailly at 35m is not beyond the realms of possibility
its just a matter of weather a CL club will spend that on a 30 yr old
I think we would and sell one ,do we improve at a low net cost
Wages will as always be an issue ,then again apart from the select few not many clubs will offer what we do

If we have Europe, it's a different proposition.

But, I don't think it's a hard sell regardless.

"You're playing for Carlo Ancelotti. You're playing with James Rodriguez. We want you to compete with Richarlison and James. You're going to be getting balls into Calvert-Lewin."

The point is you build a squad so that nobody is 'undropable'. It's totally the wrong way to look at it. It also allows you to play in different ways.

The only issue is funds.

I am not sure funds is an issue
Being allowed spend them is
