Godfrey is his main man. We Will see if Carlo wants to push up the pitch in the near future, by the CB we buy or don’t buy
It's weird though because i'm not sure you need both your centre halves to be rapid to play a high line. You can't do it with Keane and Mina but Godfrey must be as quick as any defender in the league, if you use him on the cover with one of the others as the ball winner it could work fine. The fact we don't do it suggests it's not on the agenda I think.

Well let’s hope it is, not Necessarily like certain teams, but at least have some balance. Because you can’t keep giving up possession and chances. Is it 19 games on the spin we’ve been out shot by the opposition.

I know it’s not purely about pressing, Better players will help for a start. But I’d really like to see us have more possession next season. And not watching every game biting my nails

£100k a week for 2 seasons while the new RB/RWB and perhaps a RW/RF settle in seems decent for a free transfer adaptable player who Ancelotti knows and who has bags of successful experience.

I hope we also put an offer to Ramos as well :)

Lucas Vazquez is not a good enough defender to be a RB in the Premier League and more so in an Ancelotti team. He's only played RB for like 2 years too. You get away with playing wingers there in Spain like Jesus Navas.. would never work in this league.

Rather than pump 100k on a backup RB go out and buy a quality first-choice who won't need 2 seasons to settle.

Still need a RW and back up for one if not both positions

If we go for Koulibaly it would surely be to play with Godfrey.

That would mean one of Mina and Keane being sold. He'd be an upgrade on both of those players.

He's a month older than VVD, so i suppose the question would be similar to whether you would take VVD (whose also 30 before next season) at a cost of around £40mil + enormous wages?

On the positive side we get a superstar centre back for 3 or 4 seasons (who will decline). Godfrey would probably improve as well through playing alongside him.

Id counter that with Tapsoba at Leverkusen being available for £44mil buyout fee who displays alot of the same characteristics as Koulibaly and is only 22.

There are others like Kounde (Sevilla) who have everything though are a little small at 5'11 (but a Cahill type leap). He'd cost about £50mil, down from £65mil ish City were quoted last summer.

Also Bastoni at Inter who is amazing. Both of those players can play the conservative cover role with Godfrey moving forwards to snap the attacker.

If it was me, id go for the younger options...for the kind of money and where we want to be then we need to go for someone top class who will become world class...not someone on the downward slope.
Kounde has a RC of 70 mil IIRC. Sevilla will definitely want the full amount for him considering they signed him for about 25 themselves.

Lots of talk in here of right wingers. With Sigurdsson confirmed to be in contract talks, we'll probably be playing a 10 next season and have two undroppable 9s. I don't see what the point in signing Sigurdsson is if not to cover James and where on earth wingers would fit in alongside those players I can't work out.

We must have a system in mind to sell to incoming players, but I haven't a clue what it could be (other than the diamond, which just seems unlikely).

Maybe a proper 4-3-3 like carlo played at the start of the season

Gbamin/Allan DM
Doucoure /new signing Box to box
James/siggy no 10

RW DCL Richarlison up top

Well he could play 4231 and have Richarlison one side , new signing the other. Though I think Richarlison should play up front With DCL. But i don’t think he will

So maybe we sign a Zaha type who can play across the front 3. To give better options off the bench and with injuries.

Don't think Richarlison worked there in a 433 and I think that's part of the reason we've swerved it recently. He seemed to absolutely hate it.

I think forcing Richarlison to play on the left is asking for trouble. Not only is he pretty poor out there (besides defensive contribution), he also seems to hate that position.

We need a squad.

We don't need to be tied to one way of playing, as long as we have good enough players to give us different options.

That's why we need a winger/wide forward. We needed one last summer. We need players who can stretch teams. We need players who can make an impact from the bench.

Surely that's what this season has shown up?

We've had one sub score a league goal this season - one! And that was Gylfi's pen at Anfield.

Think we've only had 2 subs who have even set up a goal - Iwobi and Gylfi. It's properly dismal.
