Everton Summer transfers 2021

Fair enough. For me it's not just about whether they're better than what we've got, there are plenty of other factors i'd take into account too. As I said, i'm not saying he'd be a bad signing, I have no idea, I just don't think there's any need to be dismissive of people questioning it. There are very good reasons to question it, it's not crazy to think it might not be a wise use of resources.

He is not costing a transfer fee, yes high ish wages, but to be able to bring a player ina of this level for no fee is good business.

Now, had we been paying £25 million, and offering a 5 year deal....then its an issue.....and thats the issue we have put ourselves in before.

But just like the James deal, I would not be surprised if this was a 2+1 year deal.

Seems a no brainer to me tbh.

Free transfers aren't free. Signing on fees can be large.

I understand your logic, i'm not arguing with you. I've said before, i'm not saying he wouldn't be a good signing, i'm saying I can see why other people might be apprehensive. There are plenty of deals in recent years that people have told me are no brainers. Not many of them have worked out quite as well as people seemed to think they would.

For those individuals salivating over Ings the past couple seasons, apparently Man City is interested according to Sky haha. I'm dubious but the fact that story exists just like the Delph to Leeds rumor demonstrates what a dumb world we live in. But keeping on topic a midfielder who run with the ball, tackle and initiate attacks with his passing would be ideal and a whole new right side as well.

Let his deal run out in 2022 then.
Well I definitely wouldn't be giving him a new contract! I'm just saying I can't imagine it being very easy to get rid of him even if we wanted to. We'd surely want a fee (like it or not he's still in the squad every week and club captain) and he's on something like £70k a week. I just don't see there being too many takers at that cost.
